Sunday Stealing: The Procrastination Tool

1. What is your favorite sit-down restaurant?

Overall, it was Quincy’s, but I think they are out of business now. They had the best yeast rolls. I could have eaten those all day long, forget the steak! Here in our little Texas town, my favorite is Niner’s.

2. What food could you eat for 2 weeks straight and not get sick of it?

SHRIMP! And cheesecake. But, mostly SHRIMP!

3. Have you ever had anything removed from your body?

Yes. Teeth, tonsils, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and who knows what else while they were in there.

4. What is the last heavy item you lifted?

I think the last heavy thing I lifted, tried to lift anyway, was a big flower pot. I got it up part way, then decided, nope, not happening.

5. Have you ever been knocked unconscious?

Like being conked in the head knocked out? I don’t think so. Doctors that have a sense of self-preservation have found it prudent to knock me out.

6. If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die?

Yes. I would like to know that.

7. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

If I could change my name, I would change it to what my daddy wanted to name me to start with. It is the divided version of the name that I have. My name is Suzanne. Daddy wanted me to be named Suzie Annie. Aunt Suzie was his grandma’s sister, and Annie was his paternal grandma. He called her “Big Mama”. It is this Annie that I named my PS Annie! Blog after.

8. What’s your goal for the year?

There are several. My goal is to take a picture, a clear picture, of a bird in flight. Another is to get this house back in some semblance of order.

9. Last person you hugged?

The last person that I hugged was probably David, my husband.

10. First place you went this morning?

To the bathroom. Always the bathroom. OY!

11. Do you always answer your phone?

No. I can’t hear very well on the phone anyway. I usually hand it over to David for him to see what the person wants.

12. It’s four in the morning and you get a text message, who is it?

It would probably be one of the kids.

13. If you could change your eye color what would it be?

I wouldn’t want to change my eye color. I like the color brown. My eyes are brown and have golden-ish flecks in them, with a darker brown stroke around the iris.

14. What’s on your wish list for your birthday?

I don’t have a birthday wish list.

15. Does the future make you more nervous or excited?

Since I was diagnosed with COPD, the future terrifies me.

16. Do you have any saved texts?

Yes, I have saved texts. Some of them are saved only because I haven’t figured out how to delete them on this phone yet.

17. Ever been in a car wreck?

Yes, many times. Most of the time I have been a passenger, but the most severe one, I was the driver. A man ran a stop sign, less than a mile before my driveway. He hit our car and sent our car careening into a ditch then up into a fence post or utility pole (can’t remember which). It was at the corner of a cow pasture for the local dairy. The front of our car was smashed in so bad that you couldn’t have retrieved the dipstick if you’d wanted to. Everything was jammed. I got out of the car to check on our baby, who was in a car seat in the back seat, screaming her little lungs out. The junior achiever that had run the stop sign asked, “Are you okay?” DOH NO! “Do I look like I’m okay?” Someone had called the dairy man and my parents. Before my parents got there, my sister drove by and saw this accident, which drove her blood pressure through the roof. It scared her half to death. When my mama got there, she tore into that other driver like a mama lion going after someone messing with her cubs. I think she left him rather speechless. Thankfully, me and our baby girl survived this accident. I can’t say the same for our car. Weeks later, we were still without a car. The doofus that ran the stop sign, however, was tooling around town in his car. This irked me to no end.

18. Do you have an accent?

I sure do, y’all! I sound like a Southern girl and am very proud of it! Now, whether that is South Carolina southern or Texas southern at this point, I do not know. :)

19. What was the last song to make you cry?

The last one that I can remember for sure making me cry was “Streets of Heaven” by Sherrie Austin.

20. What did you do last night?

I went to sleep, which is something I’d rather do in the day rather than the night.

21. Have you ever felt like you hit rock bottom?

Yes, and I have, many times.

22. Current hate right now?

Loathe would probably be a better word for this than hate, but immodesty is the answer either way.

23. Met someone who changed your life?

There have been many to impact my life and several that have changed it in a big way. Jesus has changed my life from someone with no future to someone with a future that goes beyond time as we know it. David and our children have changed my life. Teachers that encouraged me, Mrs. Pennington, Miss Elrod, Mr. Stokes, they all showed me my worth and knew I had potential.

24. How did you bring in the New Year?

I waited for the ball to drop at Times Square, the same as I have done for at least the last 32 years. And, this year we got to do that without a nurse interrupting the festivities.

25. What song represents you?

Sunday Stealing

Ask, ask, ASK

1 - Who was the last person you texted?

Actual texting would probably be one of our daughters. The last person that I messaged with, however, was our Marine son via FB Messenger.

2 - When is your birthday?

I was born on a very hot mid-August night and have been a night owl ever since.

3 - Who do you want to be with right now?

The person that I *am* with, David, my husband. I would love it if all of our children were here, too, but they are scattered to the four winds living their lives.

4 - What sports do you play?

I do not "sports". My thoughts on sports are: Do the thing that gets the points, but do it on someone else's television. Yay team and all that.

5 - Who is the first person in your blogroll?

The first one in the Blogger list (and it decides the order apparently) is Me-anders. That blog hasn't posted anything in quite some time.

6 - What is your favorite song at the moment?

My favorite song for awhile now has been Angels and Demons by Aviators. However, my earworm of the day today is You're My Zing from the first Hotel Transylvania movie.

7 - If you were stranded on an island, who do you wish to be with?

See #3. The answer is the same.

8 - What do you feel right now?

I'm assuming you want an honest answer, not a flowery one. Sad, nauseated, and like a big pile of nothingness is what I am feeling right now.

9 - What chocolate is your favorite?

Pretty much any chocolate is my favorite chocolate. I especially love dark chocolate. However, I am not at all impressed with the Ghirardeli Intense Dark Chocolate that is in my refrigerator at the moment.

10 - How many boyfriends/girlfriends did you have?

Just one and I married him. We just had our 32nd wedding anniversary.

11 - Why did you create a blog account?

I created a blog because it was the thing for someone who enjoys writing to do. It just made sense and it looked like it could be fun.

12 - Who is your favorite blogger?

I can't pick a favorite. There are so many out there with various things to offer: inspiration, education, and laughter...lots of laughter.

13 - Where do you want to be right now?

Pretty much anywhere other than where I am right now. I would love to be in a beautiful nature setting or an historic setting.

14 - What do you want to be in the future?

The ship has sailed on this one for me.

15 - When was the last time you cried? Why?

November 4 and the occasion was a bit of infuriating, depressing, "you are so nothing" news.

16 - Are you happy?

In some ways I am happy, but overall, no, and that is mainly because of the news mentioned in #15.

17 - Who do you miss?

My grandparents and my daddy and most definitely our Marine.

18 - If you were given a chance, would you like to have a different life?

Yes! I would like one where grandmas and daddies never died, where wars and threats of wars didn't take our children, where everyone has healthcare, and where people aren't considered worthless just because they are poor, and a life in a place where the air and the water are clean and safe to consume instead of a place where the air is killing me.

19 - What was the best thing you were given?

The best thing that I was given is my salvation. Second to that are my husband and my children.

20 - Who was the last person who called you?

Nobody ever calls me. David takes and makes all the calls. I have trouble hearing on the telephone and it is just a frustrating experience for everyone involved.

21 - What is your favorite dish?

Anything involving shrimp and/or cheesecake.

22 - Who is your best friend?

I have a few close friends, but the one that I consider my best friend is the one that I call Sis. We are sisters of the heart and understand each other on a multitude of levels.

23 - What is your biggest regret?

At the moment that would be being born. Overall, my biggest regret is that I was unable to protect my children from some pretty significant hurts in their lives.

24 - Have you ever avoided your partner?

If I have, I don't remember doing it.

25 - Who do you spend crazy moments with?

Most of my crazy moments are spent with David and sometimes with one or more of our children, who are all grown up now.

Sunday Stealing

I just learned about this site while visiting Denise over at: Coco's Momma. How about giving her a visit as well as the Sunday Stealing site.

1. Are you a very open or private person?

In some ways I am open, but overall, I am a private person. It really depends on who is on the other side of the conversation.

2. Change one thing about the world what would it be?

Little children wouldn't suffer from big diseases.

3. Live in any country/city, where would you choose?

After the United States, my next choice would be Ireland.

4. What perfume do you wear?

I don't wear perfume, but when I did, it was Elizabeth Taylor's Passion.

5. How are you feeling right now?

Tired, but there is too much on my mind to even bother trying to go to sleep.

6. If money was no object, where would you move to?

Ireland.

7. Who was the last person to make you cry?

It depends on how you look at it. David and I were talking about our daddies and our grandparents. I can't talk about either without crying.

8. What age do people usually mistake you for?

490.  Really, I don't know. I think they think that I am older than I am and 50 is old enough, thank you!

9. Is there a song which can bring you to tears instantly?

Yes. "Streets of Heaven" by Sherrie Austin.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lEIivTOX0Q0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

10. Do you play video games?

Not usually. The closest that I come to that these days is playing the Solitaire game on the computer and sometimes Mah Jong on my phone.

11. What do you think about before you go to bed?

I think about how tired I get of having to go to the bathroom and how I don't want to go to bed, but know that I need to.

12. Have you ever online dated?

No. I was married long before this sort of thing came into fashion. I wouldn't have even if I hadn't been married already. I don't get the whole idea anyway. Dating should be in person. How is it a date if it is online?

13. Do you get cranky when you’re hungry?

Yes, sometimes.

14. What drink did you last consume?

Diet Coke.

15. Have you ever tripped while walking up the stairs?

Yes, and down them, too. Stairs have never been my friend. When I was in 7th grade, I tripped going up the stairs at school and my glasses got broken when another student stepped on them after they fell off my face. Another time, I was carrying one of our babies down the stairs and fell down the stairs. He was okay, thank goodness! Stairs have never been my friend!

16. Is there something you’re happy about at the moment?

Yes! I am happy about having a potential customer at our Etsy store.

17. Are you a shy person?

I am a very shy person, sometimes painfully so. I am also an introverted person. These are not the same thing.

18. Were you happy when you woke up today?

I was in a decent mood. I don't know that I was either happy or sad, just awake.

19. Do you like rain?

Yes, most of the time. But not so much this week. We have been dealing with flooding in our town. It is upsetting to know that many of the townspeople had 3 to 4 feet of water in their homes.  See this post: S is for Say a Prayer and this one on David's blog: Flooding in Wharton County Texas.

20. Can you go a day without music?

I can and have on many occasions. But I like it better when we listen to The Statesmen Quartet on a daily basis.
