Product Review: TakeME Drain Auger

TakeME Drain Auger

We recently ordered the TakeME Drain Auger and were well pleased. This drain snake is listed as being 16.5 feet long on the Amazon description, but it is actually slightly longer than that by our measurement. This is a good thing.

The drain snake also comes with a hair strainer that you can place over your tub drain to catch any hairs or soap pieces that might otherwise float down the drain. This helps reduce the potential for future clogs.

The TakeMe Drain Auger is versatile and flexible. It bends around those hard to get to areas of your drain very easily, with just a twist or two of the snake.

We are happy with our snake. It is convenient since it folds up into the handle and is easy to store. Having this snake on hand should help you avoid costly calls to the plumber and reduce the use of those nasty drain cleaning chemicals on the market.

Product Review: Spider by LeShop

Spider by LeShop

Most people plan all year round for how they will decorate their homes for different holiday celebrations.

Face it, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all come so close together one has to plan far in advance to work it all out.

We ordered this Spider from the LeShop so we could plan some of our holiday decorating. Once we had this creature, we began to think of other things we could do with it. We could put a pilgrim hat on her for Thanksgiving. We could add a Santa hat for Christmas. We could dress her up like cupid for Valentines Day and put a leprechaun hat on her for Saint Patrick’s Day.

This spider is really soft, kind of like a cat. You may find yourself petting it just like you would a cat. This spider is very poseable and just plain fun.

We give this Spider from the LEShop all five stars. We anticipate loads of fun with it, like we have with Hamlet.

Product Review: myCharge myFlipShade

myCharge myFlipShade

We took our myFlipShade samples outside to give these little gems a test. You may or may not be aware that the sun on the Texas Gulf Coast can be very harsh. Many times it is difficult to see the phone in your hand, forget about trying to read the screen.

We tried this product under the harsh, Texas sun and were well pleased. The product does block the sun and make the screen much more readable.

The shades come in a variety of designs so you can personalize your phone. It not only makes your phone easier to read, it also makes it look better, too.

We give myCharge myFlipShade all five stars and a thumbs up, too. We are impressed with how easy it is to use and how much difference it makes when you are trying to see your screen in the bright light.

We were sent complimentary samples of this product. We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative.

Product Review: Ultrasonic Pest Repeller Pest Control for Insects, Mice, Roaches, Bugs, Fleas, Mosquitoes by ShiMing

Ultrasonic Pest Repeller Pest Control for Insects, Mice, Roaches, Bugs, Fleas, Mosquitoes by ShiMing

ShiMing, the seller of the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller Pest Control for Insects, Mice, Roaches, Bugs, Fleas, Mosquitoes could not have picked a better time or place to test out their product than Gulf Coast Texas immediately after Hurricane Harvey.

Right now, every undesired critter you can imagine is displaced from its usual home.  All of these critters are making it into homes along the Gulf Coast.  And, we have never seen the mosquitos as bad as they are right now.

ShiMing offered us a discount on this product so we could test it under the most extreme conditions that could be found on this planet.

We have tried this out in several rooms and it has worked flawlessly in each one.  In the past, we have tried other ultrasonic critter repellents but they created problems for those of us with very sensitive hearing.  This one does not cause that problem.

This thing works great! It has substantially reduced the mosquito population in the room where we put it.  This is amazing considering how many were stirred up by the rains in our area.

We will be buying about a dozen more of these things. Here on the coast they will make a great Christmas gift.  And, yes, we still have mosquitos around here in what some would call winter when our temperatures drop down to around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Fortunately, those frigid temperatures only last about three days here on the Texas Gulf Coast.

We purchased the Ultrasonic Pest Repeller at a discount. We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative.

Product Review: Blessed: Hymns and Songs of Faith by Bradley Walker

Blessed: Hymns and Songs of Faith by Bradley Walker

We love great Gospel Music.  We were brought up on it.  We were so glad to get to preview Bradley Walker - Blessed which will be available for purchase October 6, 2017.

This album features Bradley Walker who sings along with several legendary performers and groups like The Oakridge Boys.

The songs are amazing and the recordings are excellent.  This is the kind of CD that everyone will have on their wish list.

We have not yet seen the DVD, but it has to be great. It is hosted by the legendary Bill Gaither, so it HAS to be great!

We give the album all five stars.  We know you will, too.

We were sent a complimentary copy of Blessed: Hymns and Songs of Faith in the MP3 format.  We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative.

Product Review: DVD Teletubbies: Bubbles

Teletubbies: Bubbles

We received a review copy of Teletubbies: Bubbles free of charge for the purpose of writing this review.

Teletubbies: Bubbles is a DVD which contains six all-new episodes of the Teletubbies.  This series appears to be targeted towards very young children like 2-5 years old or so.

Teletubbies: Bubbles is very cute and sweet.  In one of the episodes, there is a very funny part where a periscope speaker sounded to wake up the Teletubbies.  It was an imitation of a rooster.  This rooster had a British accent.

Teletubbies: Bubbles is the kind of DVD a parent or other caretaker can pop in to play while they take care of other things.  Every part of the DVD is kid-friendly.

Adults will probably not enjoy the DVD themselves because they are very repetitive and predictable. However, parents will want to play the Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes feature with their kids. It could be a very fun part of the DVD.

This is the first DVD in the series.  Parents, grandparents, and others will want to give their favorite child a copy of the Teletubbies: Bubbles DVD and let them have fun.

Just make sure you have some round bread and squeeze margarine in the house so you can make Tele-Toast. I am sure your young‘uns will request it.

We give it all five stars on our scale of zero to five stars.  Young children probably will, too.

Product Review: Silicone Potholders by Bo-Guyar

Silicone Potholders
By Bo-Guyar

We were asked to try out this set of three silicone pot holders to see how they would stand up.  We put them through their paces and and we found them to be durable and very useful.

We tried them out to see how well they protected from the heat.  We heated our deep fryer to 400 degrees and then picked it up with the silicone pot holders.  Don’t try this at home.

These silicone pot holders are flexible and durable.  You can use them as pot holders to move a pot from one location to another but you can also use them as a hot pad.  You can place the pot holder on the surface you wish to protect and put your hot pot on top of it.

Our silicone pot holders came in a 3 pack with one blue, one pink, and one green.  We like our pot holders and think you will like yours, too.

Product Review: Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna

Safe Catch sent us a sample pack of their tuna to try out to see what we thought.  The sample pack contained six cans: 1 can No Salt Added, 1 can Salt Added, and 4 cans of Solid Wild Tuna Steak.
The fact that we got a free sample in no way affects what we think of the product.  If we did not like it, we would tell you.  Our regular readers know this by now as we have given some products some really low marks.

The first can we tried was the no salt added.  Suzanne made up a tuna salad and made sandwiches with it.  Unlike your usual tuna, you don’t drain this tuna. This tuna comes packed in its own oil.  Not water, not vegetable oil, but its own oil.

The tuna tasted great.  We enjoyed every mouthful of this tuna.  It did not have a strong fishy smell like you get from some fish.

Safe Catch says that by hand packing the tuna in its own oil they preserve the natural health benefits of the Omega 3 oils. This means that the health benefits are retained.

According to Safe Catch, they test each individual fish to determine the mercury levels of that fish. As I understand it, all tuna contains some level of mercury.  Safe Catch reports that their fish has far lower levels of mercury than the FDA regulations require.

The no salt added variety that we tried first is tested at a standard that is 3 ½ times stricter than the FDA limits.  The Solid Wild Tuna Steaks are tested at a standard that is 10 times stricter than the FDA rules.

We are trying to eat healthier and this is one way to do it.  Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna has all sorts of awards and endorsements from places like Parent’s Magazine and Inc. Magazine.

We like this tuna and think others will like it, too.

Stay tuned for a post containing recipes to use with this tuna!

Changes

When I started PS Annie! way back in 2011, I wanted to focus on genealogy and family history and just family in general.  Over the years, various things have come along to pull me away from my initial focal point. This blog is changing much as my life has since I started PS Annie!

Over the last several months, I have been flooded with requests by publicists to do reviews and/or author interviews. As you may have noticed, a great many are being posted here now in addition to being on David's blog Random Thoughts and Observations.  While a book/product review blog is not what PS Annie! started out to be,  it seems to be a part of its life now. The funny thing is, I have no clue how they found me, but I am glad that they did. :)

Considering how much we love to read, how could I tell any of these publicists, "No, that is not the focus of my PS Annie!?"  I've never been good at saying no anyway and I love books!

It is a fun adventure and I hope that all of you are fine with it.  I now have PS Annie! #2 over on WordPress devoted solely to genealogy and family history, what this PS Annie! started out to be.  I hope you'll join me over there, too.

Have a blessed weekend, all of you!
