Press Release: Adult Christianity for Today

Grounded in Biblical Scripture and Christian Theology, Book Offers Multiple Surprises, Including the Bonus God has Built into Most Long-Term Marriages

What does adult Christianity look like in the twenty-first century?

Lutheran Pastor Ted Coleman explores this question in his newly published anthology of sermons titled AdultChristianity for Today: A God of Surprises. A collection of 29 sermons organized into the seasons of the Christian year, these sermons offer humor, stories, and redeeming psychological insights; each also concludes with various fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice questions geared toward retention of key points.

Among other topics, Adult Christianity for Today covers some of the main psychological differences between men and women, unique characteristics of left-brained and right-brained people, the Christmas sign, spiritual shortcuts, spiritual growth, two marks of adulthood, how to deal with temptation, how to deal with a bully, what happens to rebels, what happens to those who are excessively proud, three surprises in the Christian story of God, and four possible explanations for human suffering.

Coleman comments, “I wrote this book in response to my middle school grandson asking me ‘What do you do as a preacher?’ as well as in response to requests for printed sermons. It is my hope that AdultChristianity for Today encourages modern and postmodern Christian people in their adult Christian journeys in our time.”

“Both in concept and content, I trust this volume will find a most appreciative audience in the direct, practical, and pastoral way it deals with so many very relevant, timely, and timeless questions of concern to all of us today. Yes, right down to those Coleman trademark ‘fill-in-the-blank’ questions!” ~ Ed Aebischer, Adult Sunday School teacher
