1. Setting aside the real March Madness (NCAA Basketball) describe something happening at your house this month that might earn the title 'March Madness'?
EVERYTHING! Go here. No, never mind, don’t go here. Oh, never mind that, do go here. I’ll do this. No, I’m not going to do that, but I’m going to do this. No, never mind, I’m going to do this instead. OY! STOP THE BLOOMIN’ YO-YO!
2. What's a favorite made up word from your childhood or a favorite from your children's childhood? Does your family still use the word today? If there's a story behind the origin, please share.
“Whatchamahoosit”. It is just a word that we made up for lack of a better word for something when we didn’t know exactly what that “something” was.
3. Will you be doing any spring cleaning now that the season is upon us? I read here a list of 15 quick (under one hour) spring cleaning tasks. They were-
clean out a drawer, vacuum furniture, whiten tile grout, dust the nooks and crannies you don't get to year round, degrease kitchen cabinets, wipe down walls, go behind furniture, wipe down ceiling fans, vacuum the mattress, clean the range hood, wash baseboards, shine the stainless steel, clean out vents, tackle the windows, and wipe down gadgets
Of the fifteen 'quick' tasks listed which two most need doing at your house? Will you do them?
All of them need to be done and I am working on it. First, me and this house are in recovery mode. We’ve become the dumping ground for kiddos that don’t live here full-time (barely any time, really) and their stuff is everywhere. I’m sort of working at the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge and making some progress. Some days no bags go out and other days, lots of bags go out.
4. A favorite movie set in Paris or New York?
Miracle on 34th Street, the original one with Natalie Wood and Maureen O’Hara, would be my favorite movie set in New York. I don’t know that I have a favorite one set in Paris.
5. What's put a spring in your step this month?
The wildflowers have most definitely put a spring in my step…and mosquitoes on the rest of me. I love seeing the flowers, smelling the flowers (but not the sneezing), and most especially photographing the flowers.
6. Did you ever want to be a teacher? Why or why not?
Yes, I very much wanted to be a teacher. I played school teacher with my siblings a lot as a child. I wanted to be an early elementary teacher and instill the love of learning in the little ones. I think those just starting out in school deserve a far better first day of school than what I had.
While I never went on to teach in the public school system, we homeschooled our children. We were also training union and Sunday School teachers for a while. So, I was still a teacher. All mothers and fathers are teachers. We’re just not all financially rewarded for it.
7. What's your favorite floral scent? Do you have this somewhere in your home or maybe in a perfume? How do you feel about florals in food? How about wines with floral notes-yay or nay?
I love the smell of honeysuckle and the smell of some roses. No, I do not have them in my home nor do I wear perfume. I do not drink wine. I’d rather not have flowers in my food either. The flowers need to be outside for the bees and the butterflies and photographers.

Last week ended on a very scary note with David’s trip to the ER due to very low blood sugar levels. Hopefully, this week will not hold any upsetting surprises!

I just read your hubs account of your very adventurous weekend-whew! So glad there was a happy outcome to what I'm sure was a very scary evening.

I am glad David is OK, that is very scary. I am impressed you are doing the 40 bags in 40 days challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen. Yes, it was very scary!
DeleteSome of the things we took out today were too big for bags, but maybe that still counts. :)

I love the original Miracle on 34th St., watch it every Christmas. So sorry about David ending up in the hospital. Praying for both of you.
ReplyDeleteCool! We watch it every year, too. I have for as long as I can remember. We usually watch it first on Thanksgiving Day and then again closer to Christmas.
DeleteThank you for the prayers. He's doing much better, except that he's had quite a few high sugar levels since then. Overall, he is okay, though.
