1. April is Lawn and Garden Month. On a scale of 1-10 what's the current state of your lawn and/or garden. (10=a showpiece, 1=send in the professionals). Tell us about any lawn or garden plans you have for this month.

At the moment, our yard is probably around a 5. While it isn’t a showpiece - we don’t have the garden club yard-of-the-month sign by any stretch – we also don’t have the dump-of-the-month sign, either. Little by little, it is recovering from the Valentine’s Day tornadoes (6 of them!) and the helpful hands of other folks. The lantana has re-leafed finally after folks mowed them over. I can’t wait for the flowers to come back! The only garden plan that I have at the moment is a daily count on our baby tomatoes and eventually eating them!

2. "Many things grow in the garden that were never sown there."~Thomas Fuller What does this quote mean to you?

Love, peace, thankfulness, those can grow in a garden and were not necessarily sown there. But what a harvest!

3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about God?

Probably one of the first things that comes to my mind when I think about Heavenly Father is what an awesome artist He is!

4. If we were chatting in person, how would I know if you were nervous?

I have a nervous laugh. I stumble over my words...when I speak.  I may be very quiet.   I have a tendency to squeeze my hands, wrists, or arms. I might also have rapid breathing and be looking around for a means of escape. Also, if I am nervous, I get very shaky.

5. Do you like the color yellow? Would I find any in your home or wardrobe? Daffodils, tulips, roses, sunflowers, day lily, black eyed Susan...which yellow bloom on this list is your favorite?

I love the color yellow, thanks to our youngest son. It was his favorite color for years. I love daffodils, roses, sunflowers, lilies, black-eyed Susans, tulips…all of those are beautiful flowers and I would have all of them in my yard if I could!  But, I do not wear yellow.  I think it would be nice having a yellow wall or yellow curtains somewhere in the house.  In McClendon Manor back in South Carolina, one of the upstairs bedrooms was called The Yellow Bedroom. It had beautifully soft yellow carpeting.  I loved to feel it under my feet.

6. Flip flops or bare feet?

Flip-flops drive my feet mad. I cannot stand that between-the-toes thingy. My toes curl just thinking about it. I would have to choose bare feet.

7. Tell us about any Easter plans, celebrations, or traditions you'll carry out this month.

I don’t have any Easter plans other than remembering what the day represents and thanking Jesus for the sacrifice that He made so that I might live. What an awesome Heavenly Brother we have!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I love going to the zoo and looking at the animals. It is fun trying to take their picture and seeing them act as shyly as I do around the camera. Just about the time I get the camera focused on some of them, they are like “nope!” and turn their head or walk away. It is pretty funny!

  1. That's a tremendous amount of tornados in one day! I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. What wonderful things that gardens grow that you mentioned: Love, peace, and thankfulness. That thing on flip flops that goes between the toes drives me crazy too. I thought I was the only one who couldn't handle that thing. :)

    1. Yes, it was a very active morning. These things hit our area at about 7:30am and sure made a mess!

I think that flip flop toe thing bothers our oldest daughter, too. I don't know how anyone can stand it. My toes cringe just thinking about it. :)

      Have a blessed day!

  2. Those animals in the zoo are just like my pups. As soon as they see the camera, they scram. I love the zoo, too. Hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. The zoo is a fun place to go. Do you have one near where you live? We have to go about 60 miles in one direction to get to the Houston Zoo and about 90 miles in the opposite direction for another one. Just getting to the Houston Zoo is an adventure all on its own!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed week. :)

  4. I love yellow too! I'm with you on the flip flops, nothing between my toes. So true about taking photos at the zoo.

    1. Do you ever wonder how the flip flop wearers can stand that toe thing? My toes curl just thinking about it. haha

    1. I bet those local critters will love it if you plant tomatoes. :) I noticed while I was checking on ours today that there's just the slightest hint of red starting on a couple of them. YAYAY! We might get a home-grown tomato on a sandwich yet. :) What kind of tomatoes are you hoping to grow?

Happy Easter to you, too. :)

    1. I'm sorry that you can't even walk barefooted inside your house. I wouldn't like that at all. David isn't supposed to walk around barefooted either, due to his diabetes and no feeling in his feet.
