The Questions and the Answers
- What has been the highlight of your summer so far? (It's still summer people!)

- What do you wish you'd done more of this summer? Less of?
- Something you're looking forward to on your September calendar?
- Best/favorite book you've read this summer?
My favorite book this summer was a book on a not-favorite subject: Grief. It’s OK That You’re Not OK by Megan Divine was a really good book for me to read, in that it showed me my feelings were not wrong, that it is perfectly normal to not be on the same timetable as other folks expect me to be. Great words of encouragement. I love you, my Zing! The kitties are cute. I am sorry this is the last Hodgepodge. I am looking forward to taste testing in the kitchen here at McClendon Villa.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYes, these babies are total cuteness...and teeth! haha
I am sorry to see Hodgepodge go, too, but completely understand. Joyce has done a wonderful job over all these many years.
Here's to many taste testing opportunities to come. :)
I love you, my Zing.
I'm going over to check out your youtube channel right now. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie!
DeleteHave a blessed week. :)
My friend always says, "God hasn't asked me to do this forever. He only asks me to do it today."
ReplyDeleteAmen. And, thankfully, He doesn't ask us to endure it alone.
DeleteHave a blessed day, Connie. :)
Love your answer to #5, very good!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lea!
DeleteHave a blessed day. :)
I, too, am sad to see the podge go away. Grieving really is something that is personal, sometimes corporate, and needs understanding. Hope you have a good September!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen. I hope that you have a blessed day and a great September, too. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by. Your kittens are so cute. I'd love to have another cat but one son is allergic and the other has 2 greyhounds which usually come with them when they visit. So our house is animal free at the moment. Grief is definitely a personal thing and although it sometimes follows a pattern it has no set timetable. I hope September is more settled for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy. I'm sorry that your son is allergic to cats. David was, too, years ago, but apparently that allergy went away somehow. For awhile there, every time he went to the doctor, they wanted to x-ray him for tuberculosis because he was coughing so much. Maybe your son will be rid of this allergy some day, too.
DeleteThank you. I hope that you have a blessed September, too. :)
Grief is different for everyone. Don't let people tell you how to grieve. I mean, maybe a counselor would be helpful to guide you out of dark places, but normal people should just be supportive.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt lived in Corpus Christi for most of my life. I'm going to have read back to see what was the awfulness! Glad you are able to move on from whatever it is! Moment by moment.
We have been able to put the city itself behind us because we have no more reason to go there, but what happened there will be with us for a long time. Moving forward is a one day at a time thing in regards to this awfulness. Some days are good, some not so much, but healing will happen.
DeleteThank you for understanding about grief. It would be wonderful if everyone could be so understanding. So many expect someone to just get over it. I think there is no getting over some things, only finding one's way through whatever it is.
Have a blessed day. :)
The kitties are adorable! The soot sprites in that flower pot make me think of 3 little white kittens I brought home after seeing them being tossed out the window of a car on a country road. We had a stack of cement blocks in the driveway at the time and once I managed to get them out of the car they ran into that and didn't come out for about a week. We'd just see their little heads popping up out of the blocks now and then. It made us think of a Whack-a-mole game! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love your comment on #5...we try so hard to do it all, right now...when all we really have to do is take one step, one moment, one hour, one day at a time. God's got the big plan and we can rest in that.
I hope the rest of your week is blessed!
Thanks, Stacy. They are little sweethearts, even though they tried to chew off my fingers this morning. haha
DeleteHow awful someone threw out those kitties! That is just so sad. I am glad you were there to rescue them! I bet they were adorable peeking out of the cement blocks. It would remind me of Whack-a-mole, too. haha I love that game. :)
Thank you for your kind comment. Have a blessed week. :)
