Or it will be soon. It looks like those of us on the Texas Gulf Coast are in for a bumpy weekend. The last prediction that I saw for what is currently Tropical Storm Harvey is that it could make landfall late Friday/early Saturday as a Category 3 hurricane, a major hurricane according to the National Hurricane Center.
The hurricane warning issued this morning covers from Port Mansfield to Matagorda, which is the only county between us and the Gulf of Mexico. Port Mansfield appears to be a good ways down below Corpus Christi and Matagorda is in our backyard.

They are expecting parts of this area to get as much as 30 inches of rain and severe, life-threatening flooding. Some of us do not have the option of evacuating. Thankfully, our oldest daughter is with us and our youngest daughter, who lives and goes to school on an island in the Gulf, has been evacuated to somewhere in Central Texas. Our oldest son is somewhere between South Carolina and Houston (he was en route to Houston to take delivery of something). The only one of our children not anywhere near the hurricane zone is our Marine out in 29 Palms, California.
We may lose power, water, and phone service, so if you don't hear from us over the weekend, you will know that the hurricane paid us a too-close-for-comfort visit. Please keep the Texas Gulf Coast residents in your prayers. They are expecting this one to be a doozy!
Have a blessed weekend, y'all, and stay safe!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen. Things are not looking good for our area according to the last report that I saw. Here is a link to the news page that has been updated throughout the day:

If at all possible, we'll let folks know how we are doing. Of course, if we lose power and phone, we won't be able to tell anybody anything. :(
Have a blessed and safe weekend!
