Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The Hodgepodge lands on June 14th this week, Flag Day in the US of A. Do you fly your country's flag at home? Sometimes, often, or every single day? Have you ever visited the city of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia)? Did you make a point of seeing The Betsy Ross House? Have you ever made a trip to Baltimore? If so, was Fort McHenry on your itinerary? (where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write The Star Spangled Banner)

We do not fly a flag here because we have not been able to get the flagpole installed. That is the only reason, to my knowledge. I have never been to Pennsylvania nor to Baltimore.

2. Red flag or white flag? Which have you encountered most recently? Explain.

A red flag would be the most recent. A prayer was answered. It is complicated, but I cannot be sure whether it was really an answer from Heavenly Father (which would break my heart) or if it is the devil trying to trick me (which would have me thinking incorrect things about someone).

3. Are you a stay in the car listen to the end of a song kind of person? What kind of person is that?

I would say it is a music loving person. I have been known to stay in the car until the end of the song. But, for the most part now, I don’t play the radio in the car.

4. What are some of the traits or qualities you think a good dad possesses? In other words, what makes a good dad? What's an expression you associate with your father?

My daddy with Laynie at her 1st birthday party.

A good daddy loves his children and does his best to provide for them. He puts their needs above his own. He works his tail off, double shifts to infinity and beyond, so that his daughter can go to a safe school.

“Papa loves y’ins” is an expression I associate with my daddy. He used to tell the kids that all the time.

5. What's one rule you always disagreed with while growing up? Is that rule somehow still part of your adult life? Is that a good or bad thing?

I vehemently disagreed with the “rule” that my little sister was basically a little goddess and I was just inconvenient, an outsider. Not exactly the meaning of “rule” you were going for, I’m sure. I disagreed with my little sister “ruling” over me.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

These days are flying by and I don’t feel like I’m getting nearly enough done. The day has hardly started and I’m already tired. But, I’m going out to be with the birds for a little while. That usually rejuvenates me. Have a blessed day, y’all!

    1. I'm sorry if you had to endure that, too! It never led to very Christian thoughts, that's for sure. :)

      Have a blessed day.

    1. He was a very hard-working man. He didn't want any of us to do without, even after we'd left home. I sure do miss him. I love you, too, my Zing.

    1. They sure do! Which of your birdy visitors are your favorite? Who are your regulars? Every day I see cardinals, chickadees, and titmice. Rare visitors are Inca dove, mourning dove, the downy and pileated woodpeckers, and two other new ones visited the other day, but I have no clue what kind they are yet. I will post the pics I got of them on McClendon Villa when I get a chance to do so.

Enjoy that lovely view! Have a blessed day. :)

    1. Thank you, Stacy. :)

Oh yes, the bird watching perked me up! I have a new one that I have to try to get an ID on. It had a reddish beak that looked pointy, not roundy like the cardinal's beak. It had a light tummy and brown or gray back. I hope it comes again so that maybe I can get a better picture of it.

      Have a blessed day!
