1. Share a favorite memory of your mother or share a favorite something from your own life as a mother. If you're a mother (or stepmom) tell us how your experience as a mom differs from your own mother's experience.
A favorite memory of mine as a mother - and it is a favorite because it makes me laugh - is when I found out that I was expecting Maggie, our youngest daughter. Davey was only four months old and my body had not yet recovered from the hormonal effects of that pregnancy when things started to feel a little more "off". I went to the doctor to find out what was going on. When the nurse came out to give me the news, I am pretty sure my mouth dropped open far enough for King's Mountain to fall in. My knees went weak on me and I had to sit down. I don't think I was breathing. My sister and the nurse both asked me if I was okay. Yes, I was okay and was actually very happy, but I am pretty sure I was in shock, too. :)
2. In May we celebrate teachers (May 9) and nurses (May 6) both. Most every family has at least one in their midst, so tell us something (or a few things) you appreciate about the teacher or nurse on your family tree.
My oldest first cousin on my daddy's side is Audrey. She is a teacher at the high school where David and I met and also from which we graduated. She is a totally awesome gal. I appreciate her spunk and go for it attitude. She won Teacher of the Year in 1999 and has had rave reviews from her students. I am very proud of my cousin and all that she has accomplished!
3. Chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad...which would you go for if all three were on the menu? On bread or a bed of lettuce? If you answered bread, what kind of bread would make it the perfect sandwich?
It depends on where I'm at or where I have to go that day. In most cases, I would likely choose the tuna salad and I would choose to have it on potato bread.
4. Do you have a desk? Is it organized? If so, share your secret to keeping it that way. If you don't have a desk, where in your home do you take care of family paperwork and business? Where do you normally sit to blog?
Yes, I have a desk. It is a solid-as-a-rock desk that David built. A bus could park on it and it wouldn't buckle.
Now, as for the question of is it organized, that depends on your definition of organized. It has stuff on it, but I know, for the most part, where things are when I need them. My computer is on this desk, as is David's, and this is where we do our blogging and review writing, bill paying, and all that stuff.
5. When I was nine years old....
When I was 9 years old, I was in 4th grade. It was the first year that I had an obviously not-from-the-South school teacher. She was from somewhere up north and my little Southern ears could not hear nearly as fast as her northern mouth could talk. She talked about 90 miles a minute. She was a nice lady, even though I couldn't understand what she said most of the time.

I am so grateful for all of the birds and other critters that Heavenly Father has brought to our yard for my enjoyment. I try to spend some time out there every day to see what He will bring me to photograph. There are the usual visitors: the Carolina wren (who has a nest in our patio lamp), Carolina chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, tufted titmice, and the squirrels are coming around a little more now. But, there is always a different visitor each day, too. I've seen a gray bird with a yellow stripe on its wings, an Inca dove, a downy woodpecker, a lizard that doesn't look like an anole (it was bigger), and a black bird with a really clear yellow eye. I never know what new visitor He will send me. It is always an adventure. :)

You have some amazing pictures my dear. Morning dear. I love you. Zing! Zing!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love you, too, my Zing.
DeleteWow, your pregnacy would have been a shock to me too! God Bless You....
ReplyDeleteLove your bird photos. Happy Mother's Day to you.
Thanks! I am having a fun, peaceful time out there taking these photos.
DeleteI can't help but laugh about it. I am sure after I came out of shock, I laughed about it back then, too. I know my sister sure did. haha
Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
Always nice to learn more about you. Great bird photos. Our hummingbirds just arrived a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOh how cool! I haven't seen any hummingbirds in this yard. I have only ever seen one hummingbird in person and that was in the parking lot at the medical center quite some time ago.
What kind of hummingbirds live at your house? Can you share a picture of them?
Have a blessed day!
My hubs and I were just talking this morning about the abundance and variety of birds in our yard and area. We bought a bird book for the local area and have been identifying as many as we can. I really want to get a bluebird house as we have seen quite a few bluebirds. The hawks are my favorite, I love to see them soar over the water. Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteHawks are great! I've seen them fly over our yard, but none have come down here for me to photograph yet.
DeleteHave fun identifying the birds in your yard. I was reading about how some birds intermingle with each other, like the various chickadees having babies together. It complicates identifying them. It is fun to try to identify them. I am naming the birds in our yard, too.
Happy Mother's Day to you, too! And Happy First Mother's Day to your daughter. :)
I am a bird watcher too. I love your pictures. Visiting from Hodgepodge.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am glad that you are enjoying my bird pictures and the birds in your area, too. What kind visit your yard?
DeleteHave a blessed day!
I enjoyed your answers...that pregnancy story made me laugh out loud! I didn't realize you were in the Carolinas too. You see the same birds as I do and if you are ever in need a few squirrels, we have PLENTY to share! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I get a big laugh every time I think about that pregnancy announcement. :)
DeleteI was born in Anderson, South Carolina, and lived there the first 39 years of my life. We moved here to Texas and my first birthday here was the big 40.
Our squirrel population seems to be increasing and they are hanging out longer even with me watching. I was able to walk in the patio quietly today and they stayed where they were. I was very surprised that they didn't run off. I'm willing to have any you want to share. :)
Have a blessed day!
Oh my that mom memory would be shocking for sure. Lovely birds to enjoy in your yard. I'm thankful when birds come to our yard, too. Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteIt was a shock, but a very good one. I can't imagine life without our Maggie. :)
DeleteThank you. What kind of birds visit your yard?
Have a blessed week!
Beautiful bird photos. I've been enjoying the birds in my part of the world as well - lots of robins, cardinals, goldfinch. Of course, plenty of Canada geese and Mallards as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I haven't seen any robins or finches in this yard. How cool that you have those there, and most especially the geese and Mallards. Mallards are one of my favorite ducks. I remember drawing one for art class in elementary school...such a beautiful bird!
DeleteHave a blessed week. :)
