Five Question Friday

1. What was the most productive thing you have done this week?

We took the first step to a new business venture...a dolly rescue business. We found three dolls, brought them home, and have started to clean them up and identify them. One is a Kissy doll from 1961 in her original dress and shoes. We found her at an antique store named Bohemian Rhapsody in Wharton, Texas. At the same store, we also found a vintage Raggedy Anne, this one having orange hair rather than red hair. The other doll is a Southern Belle doll, but we haven't positively identified her yet.

2. Enjoying the winter or ready for spring?

I am enjoying the cooler days but knowing that hot, hot, hot is right around the corner. We are usually lucky to make it to April before we're into the 90s/100s!

3. Are you an introvert or extrovert? Is your spouse the same as you?

I am extremely shy as well as introverted (two different things). My husband is extroverted and he doesn't have a shy bone in his 6'3" body! I have hermit tendencies and would be perfectly happy to not have to go out in and amongst the throngs of people out there.

4. Would you rather go without music or television for 1 year?

If I had to choose between music and the television, I would happily let television go bye-bye. Music often helps me express exactly what I am feeling. How could I let that go?

5. Have you ever been truly scared of someone?

Yes, and the time that first comes to mind is when I was assaulted at work by some guy that was either high or drunk. From behind, he pinned me against the beer trough/merchandiser and poked me with something hard and sharp-feeling. I didn't know if he was stabbing me or giving me a shot of something or what was happening. I quit that job that night and didn't go back for well over a year, not even as a customer.

Hop on over to Mama M.'s site to join the fun!

1. Do you prefer cotton, silk, or flannel sheets?

Of the choices given, I think I prefer flannel. I love soft fabrics.

2. What time zone are you in?

I am on the Texas Gulf Coast in the Central Time Zone.

3. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?

I love Thanksgiving! It has been my favorite holiday for as long as I can remember. I love all of the foods related to Thanksgiving. Christmas comes with to many worries and feeling not good enough because we can't get our kids all of the coolest gifts. Thanksgiving doesn't have that baggage tagging along behind it. True that Christmas isn't about the presents; I fully believe that! However, society has made it all about "gimmees" and "what did you get" that it is hard to totally focus on what Christmas is truly all about. Thanksgiving is free and freeing in so many ways!

4. What is your favorite "wintry" drink? (It doesn't have to be an "alcoholic" drink!)

Hot chocolate!

5. In your opinion, what is the worst job in the world?

There are lots of things that would fit here, but the first to come to my mind is the job of disconnecting life support systems when hope has been given up for a sick person. I think that would have to be one of the most awful jobs there is in existence.

Five Question Friday: A Day Late!

These questions come from Five Question Friday over at Five Crooked Halos.

Yeah, I know that I'm a day late in posting my responses to the questions, but I'm here now. :)

1. Do you apologize to your kids?

Yes, and sometimes I feel like that is all that I do. Things have been brought into their lives that children should never have to face and the mistakes were not seen until after the damage was done and it was too late. Hindsight is 20/20, they say and that is true. There are things that, if I had them to do over again, I would not do. Another cliche that fits here is "No good deed goes unpunished." Unfortunately, that punishment doesn't stop with the ones in charge of making the decisions. The children suffer from bad decisions made by the parents, too. So, yes, I apologize a lot to my children.

2. What color are your nails right now?

My nails are regular nail-colored, unpainted. They are so brittle and peely these days that I don't even bother trying anymore. It just doesn't seem to be worth the effort to make them pretty when they are going to break about the time the nail job is complete.

3. When you were growing up, how difficult was it for you to stay home from school sick? (As in, did you have to vomit or just say "I don't feel good".)

I don't remember wanting to stay home from school even if I was sick. Bullies aside, I enjoyed going to school. But, if I was puking, then I know I stayed home, or got sent home if I was already at school when I got sick.

4. When is the last time you bought a new comforter for your bed?

The only comforter that I remember ever buying for our bed was the one we bought when we were first setting up our house as newlyweds back in 1984. We've been given others along the way and haven't had need to buy another one.

5. Favorite website(s)?

I have a zillion "favorites", but these three stand out to me at the moment:

Miel et Lait
The Gypsy Mama
The RedheadRiter
