August Happiness Challenge - Day 30

I am happy that we are now several days past the 90-day mark, post stroke.  Now, I can relax a teeny-tiny bit knowing that the biggest risk period is behind us.  David will always be at a higher risk of strokes than the "normal" population because of his diabetes. The fact that he has had three strokes already ups it a bit more. But, here's to a future of hope that there are no more, ever!

I am happy that our children have learned to fight their own battles and are doing it in many instances. They know that we are here to help them, if need be, but each day they are becoming more and more independent.  They will make it.

I am happy because it seems that something good is going to happen for us soon.  I won't go into details because that would probably jinx it.  If it doesn't come through, oh well, that's our luck. But, for now, I am happy for what appears to be.

I am happy that we are now able to e-mail with Davey again.  The e-mail address that we were initially given was bouncing. He is now able to use his regular, personal e-mail address.  It is very slow, but it is better than no contact at all!

Please be sure to visit David over at Random Thoughts and Observations.

August Happiness Challenge - Day 26

I am happy because I found a newspaper clipping about my mama this morning.  She was a supper guest at the home of her Aunt Mattie Williams Knox, along with a few other people.  Aunt Mattie was the sister of Mama's maternal grandmother.  Also at the supper were her mother's sister Julia and her husband Dick and their daughter Sidney, and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Knox and their children Sandra and Phil.  I believe that Mr. Phillip Knox was the son of Aunt Mattie.  This supper was on Thursday, 27 June 1950.  My mama was 6 years old at the time.

I would sure love to know what they ate!

I am happy that I have discovered a source of historical newspapers online that is greatly helping me in reconstructing the stories of our ancestors.  While I am finding some sad things along the way, I am also finding moments of happiness, such as birth announcements, marriage announcements, and 50th anniversary announcements.  All of these things can be sources of more information for the family historian.  The old newspaper articles also help us to bring our ancestors to life, in a manner of speaking.  We get to learn a little more about what happened during that dash between their birth and death dates.

I find it very exciting!

I am very happy for all of the writing and photo prompt websites out there.  They are a big help when I can't think of anything on my own, which is very often these days!
