1. What's something you'd rate a 10/10? Tell us why.
I would rate my Zoomie a 10/10! Actually, I’d rate him a 1000000000/10! He is now officially and legally all mine. :) He is great on gas mileage, isn’t too tall for me to easily get into, and is a beautiful red color. I love my Zoomie and thank Heavenly Father for him very much.
2. What job would you be terrible at? What makes you think so?
I would be terrible at any job that required public speaking. I don’t just think so, I know so. I am painfully shy. I get totally terrified just at the thought of it. I get faint, my tongue swells, my mouth goes dry, I shake all over. The works. Thank you, Miss Cromer.
3. When did you last take a fall? What's something you're falling for (in a good way) these days?
I cannot remember any details about my last fall. As Laynie has pointed out, we’re a house full of clumsy folks and there’s always somebody falling. The last fall that still has a very painful impact on me was just before Davey left for the Marines. I fell hard on my tailbone twice in the same week and broke it. Instead of getting better, it hurts worse with each passing day. One learns to adjust.
Of course, I am always falling for David. :) Sometimes because of him, too. We’re pretty good about tripping each other up!
National Apple Harvest Festival (near Arendtsville PA, close to Gettysburg), Harvest on the Harbor (Portland Maine), German Village Festival (Columbus Ohio), Wellfleet Oyster Fest (Cape Cod), and Wine and Chile Fiesta (Santa Fe NM)
Have you ever been to any of the festivals listed? Which one appeals to you most? Does your hometown have any sort of fall celebration, and if so will you make it a point to attend?
I have never been to any of those, but I think the apple harvest festival would appeal to me the most out of those choices.
I don’t know if there is a fall festival here or not. I lost interest in those things in this area a long time ago. All of their festivals are loaded with drinking and I don’t want to be in the midst of a crowd of drunk folks, no matter how nice they might be otherwise.
5. What is your goodbye message to summer?
Since it never really leaves here, I guess my message to it would be, “Oh, come on, already! Get on out of here!”
6. Insert your own random thought here.
“Out of pain and problems have come the sweetest songs, and the most gripping stories.” ~Billy Graham
What have you reaped from your pain or problems?
I have learned that, no matter what, I will survive. I don’t know that I would call myself a fighter anymore. I’m tired of fighting. Pain may be here to stay, but so am I, it seems. Like the saying goes, “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger”. You’d be surprised what you can live through.
Thankfully, Heavenly Father has given me a high tolerance to most pain. With the health issues that I have, I should be in much more pain that I am. He is protecting me from the worst of it. For that, I am grateful.
Random Thought, Part 2: Have any of you ever had a hope chest or started one for someone else? Any tips or suggestions for someone that has never had one, but wants to make sure her daughters do?
Have a blessed day, y’all!

I love your little car. I have always had big cars & now wouldn't mind having something that was easier on gas.
ReplyDeleteLove your random thought on pain. God does teach us so much in those struggles, doesn't he? & what a blessing he has given you a high tolerance. God knows what he's doing.
Thank you. The car I drove when we were first married was a big car. It was a Mercury Marquis. I've also driven a Ford Aerostar extended length van. That thing was huge. I could have fit my Zoomie in that van. :) What has been your favorite car?
DeleteThank you. Yes, He most definitely knows what He is doing. If I were feeling all there is in my body to feel right now, I'd be the biggest baby you've ever seen. So far, I am able to fight back most of the tears.

Love your zoomie! Public speaking is tough for me too. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie. :) When we went to get him way back in 2011, I had a cool green one chosen. The dealership didn't have the green ones on the lot and I didn't want to wait. Red is one of my favorite colors and they had one, so we got the red one. I don't regret it for a moment. I love it.
DeleteDo you know what has made public speaking hard for you, too?

Love the car! So sporty.
ReplyDeleteI love public speaking. In college I took every speech class that was offered. I know most people don';t enjoy it though, and it seems a shame.
A hope chest used to be filled with things the young woman would need to set up a household. That holds true today, but back then I think most things were homemade and canned goods. Today I think it can be a mixture of both. Bedroom linens, kitchen gadgets and cookware.
Thanks! I think Zoomie is pretty sporty, too. :)
DeleteWow, you are brave to take on all of the speech classes offered. Not me! Have you ever thought about tutoring people in pubic speaking?
Did you ever have a hope chest? I had never heard of them until a furniture company representative came to our school talking about them. He gave the girls small, jewelry box-sized little chests. I wanted so much to have the full-sized version, but it never happened. My aunts and friends gave me things to help me set up housekeeping once they knew I was engaged and I have no clue what I stored those things in until we got married. On the bedroom linens, how do you decide what size sheets to get when you don't know what size their eventual bed will be? I've already decided that anything like that will either be their favorite color (or a neutral color, because maybe their future husbands won't like black or purple). The kitchen gadgets and cookware part will be easy. Thank you for your suggestions and help. :)

Love your Zoomie, the color is perfect! Enjoyed reading all your Hodgepodge thoughts!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
Thanks, Sue, on all counts. I love this little red car. :)

Sorry about your tailbone- ouch! My message to summer is good riddance.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. Sitting is becoming more and more uncomfortable. But, I can't stand for long either, so I just have to endure the sometimes severe discomfort.
DeleteMaybe summer will listen and take its heat and mosquitoes with it when it goes. It has been very hot here. I hope your weather has been pleasant.

Love the ZOOMIE I drive a 300 it is beautiful, comfy and good on gas, but those lil cars I admit are very fun and snazzy
ReplyDeleteAs for your hope chest
kitchen items, gadgets too
towels
pillows
(mine had some crocheted things from my grandmother I never met)
today people even buy gift cards ie bed bath and beyond (make sure they never expire)
Thanks. I love my Zoomie, too. :) I've driven other vehicles over the years, but this one is the best.
DeleteThank you for the hope chest suggestions. For our younger daughter, the gift card idea would probably suit her just fine (she prefers money gifts), which, of course, would reduce her hope chest down to the size of a jewelry box. :)
