Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Is a picture worth a thousand words? Elaborate.

I think so. Sometimes they are worth well over a thousand words, but it is difficult to find the words to adequately express it. How do you put into words the beauty of a fiery sunset or the majesty of a sky painted in pastels by The Master Artist? They are worth a thousand words and then some, but render us speechless at the same time.

2. Have you ever driven any part of the Pacific Coast Highway? If so what was your favorite stop? If not, is this sort of trip on your bucket list?

No, I have never been to California. Our youngest son is stationed there, so maybe we will be there some day. California has never been on my bucket or wish list. I have seen pictures of the Pacific Coast Highway and the scenery is awesome, but I would much rather be on Mt. Pisgah or Table Rock or Stone Mountain, overlooking the gorges, knowing that so many of my ancestors had once done the same. Being there in the fall would be perfect.

3. How do the changing seasons affect you? As the seasons change do you find yourself looking more forward or backward? Which season-season transition bothers you most? Why do you suppose that is?

We don’t really get season changes here like we did back home in South Carolina. When it is time for the seasons to change, it makes me a bit homesick. In the spring, I think of all the dogwoods that have always bloomed just in time for Easter every year.  I haven’t seen any dogwood trees here.  In the fall in SC, there are the beautiful leaf color changes.  I have seen some colored leaves here and there (in our Texas backyard, in June, mind you!), but nothing like the displays in North and South Carolina.

4. It's your birthday and you get to pick the dinner menu. What are we having? Do you ever lie about your age?

Shrimp and cheesecake. The sides don’t matter, just so long as shrimp and cheesecake are the feature presentations. :)

No, I don’t lie about my age. Why should I?  I have worked hard to make it to 52 years of age, with all manner of things working against it. Besides, lying about it would be almost like telling Heavenly Father that He made a mistake and that I knew better what age I should be than He does.

5. What's a life lesson you've learned recently?

Having someone to depend on, and having faith in them to take care of you, makes potentially scary things easier to endure.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Okay, so I read this statement and the first thing to come to my mind was “Tiptoe Through the Tulips…” Can’t get much more random than that!  Maybe it means you’re supposed to hear it, too. And, no, this isn't typically my kind of music, but it always makes me laugh. :)

    1. Maybe we could go in search of fall. As another song says, "What about now?"

I love you, my Zing. :)

  2. Our birthday dinners are almost alike. I'm having lobster. However, I could have shrimp cocktail. Tiny Tim always made me laugh.

    1. That sounds like a great birthday dinner, too!

He makes me laugh, but he also creeps me out. I guess that is weird. :)

      Have a blessed weekend.

  3. Always nice to learn more about you. Good point about age, I don't mind telling people I am 48. The funny thing is people that don't tell their age must not realize anyone can find it for free on Intellius.com, I am nosy and have looked up a lot that way :)

    1. We must be twins, then, just born a few years apart, and to different parents. I'm nosy, too. haha

Even if I were to lie about my age, my sister is online out there somewhere, too. She'd rat me out. :)

      Have a blessed weekend. :)

  4. Yes, hard things are easier to bear when you have someone to share your fears and hopes with. Hope you all are recovering from the storm and resting easier these days.

    1. Thanks, Joyce. We're doing fine here at our house. Most of the rest of town is still trying to dig out from under all the mess left by the flooding. The garbage pickup people sure have their work cut out for them!

I hope things are okay over your way. I heard Irma had a real party on the lake there. Hopefully, you all will be recovered from it very soon. I also hope that your ribs are feeling better with each passing day.

      Have a blessed evening. :)
