1. When you think about your future what do you fear most? Hope for the most?
I fear Alzheimer’s, being shoved into a corner, and forgotten. People treated my grandma like she was no longer a human once Alzheimer’s had a really firm grip on her after my grandpa died. One even told me, “You don’t have to talk to her. She doesn’t know anything anyway.” That made me so angry and hurt for my grandma and afraid for me if it ever happens to me. There are signs already that I may be following in her footsteps, but I am told that stress can also cause these things and hope that is all it is.
Along with that, I fear being shoved into a nursing home, or left here to die on my own while David gets shoved into one, and being separated from him.
What I hope for the most? For the above things to not happen!
2. September is National Chicken Month. How often is chicken on the menu at your house? What's a favorite dish made with chicken? What's something you're a 'chicken' about doing or trying?
Not often enough! I love fried chicken, baked chicken, chicken casserole, and chicken and rice. I’m sure there are other ways I like chicken, but I can’t think of them at the moment.
I am “chicken” about public speaking. It was all I could do to get through current events on Fridays in the 11th grade. Most people chilled out after a few weeks. I was just as shaky on the last day of that school year as the first.
3. What are three things you don't own but wish you did?
A home of our own out in the country.
The birth/death certificates and marriage licenses for all of our direct line ancestors.
Oh oh, this is #4, I know, but a copy of the 1890 census...but that will never happen because it was destroyed in 1921.
4. Would you rather be a jack of all trades or a master of one? Elaborate. If you answered one, which one?
Both. I would like to be good at a lot of things rather than just mediocre, but to truly excel in at least one. That one is photography. I would love to be good enough to be a National Geographic photographer.
5. Ketchup or mustard? On what?
I like both, but in moderation. I rarely use ketchup. I use mustard more often. I use ketchup on hamburgers sometimes and on fries. I use mustard on hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Sometimes though, she isn’t so patient. She goes on a rampage and everyone in her path better get out of her way or else she consumes them with a fury.

Your random thought is so true. We have seen the fury of Mother Nature. I love you. Zing! Zing!
ReplyDeleteWe sure have and it doesn't look like it's over yet with all those storms out there. I love you, too, my Zing.
DeleteHello there friend! Long time since I've made my way around the web! I don't fear being placed in a nursing home. I more fear living with my kids and them feeling like I'm a burden!!
ReplyDeleteHowdy! I'm very happy to see you dropping by here again. I'm sorry that I haven't been doing the life list lately. There's been so much to do otherwise. I need to get this whole time management under control because I am very overwhelmed these days.
DeleteI know what you mean. I don't want to be a burden either. I don't want to be where I'm not wanted. I'd rather live in a cardboard box under the bridge than in a nursing home, though.
Maybe we'll neither one ever been put in that position. Here's to many years of great health for you!
Have a blessed weekend. :)
Hope you're dry where you are! I am pretty comfortable with public speaking and my hubs has a gift for it. He loves a microphone ; )
ReplyDeleteWe're dry now and it is finally safe to go out and about the town, thank goodness! I hope that Irma doesn't impact you folks adversely!
DeleteI'm glad that you're comfortable with public speaking. :) I think it is cool that both of our hubbies have a gift for it.
Have a blessed weekend. :)
I'm not crazy about standing up in front of a group, but if I know my material and have prayed a lot, I can do it when I must. My English teacher allowed me to give book reports in private to her. She probably shouldn't have.
ReplyDeleteWhy shouldn't she have done that? Personally, I think I would have rather given my current events to Mrs. Pennington in private, but it wasn't going to work that way in her class. :) I'm glad you're able to do public speaking when you have to. I bet you talk about some pretty interesting things.
DeleteHave a blessed weekend.
Alzheimer's is a scary thing, I hope you don't get it. I can understand a fear of a nursing home too, I know I will make sure my mom and husband never have to end their lives in one.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is very scary! I hope that you don't get it either. Your mama and husband are very blessed to have you. I wish that David had never been in one. It was an awful experience for both of us. For me, it will also be eternally linked to the death of my daddy, as that is where we were when the call came in that my mama had found him already gone.
DeleteHave a blessed weekend.
