Here are the fill-ins:

1. My favorite cereal is _____________________________.

2. My prom ______________________________________.

3. The _________ thing about __________ is ___________.

4. I cannot help _____________, but __________________.

My responses:

I like so many different kinds of cereal that it would be hard for me to name just one favorite. I love Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, Cocoa Pebble, Honeycomb, Raisen Bran, and Corn Pops. However, nothing quite compares to a huge bowl of just regular, old-fashioned Cheerios loaded down with sugar.

My prom was an incredibly uncomfortable event for me. I am not a “crowds and party” person at all. I skipped out on going to my junior prom because I just couldn’t bear the thought of it. I went to my senior prom only because I didn’t want to get to 50 years old and saying to myself, “I should have gone to the prom.” Okay, so now I’m 51 years old and saying, “We could have found something better to do.”

The best thing about this yard is all of the wildlife that resides in it. There are more and more of Heavenly Father’s creatures out there each day. He always brings me surprises, either a new animal or more of what was there before or an increase in the length of time they stay where I can see them.

"Poe" ©11 May 2017 Suzanne G. McClendon

Yesterday, I got lots of pictures of this guy. I named him “Poe”. I know he isn’t a raven. We think he is a grackle of some sort. But, his eyes made me think of Poe, so that is his name now. He stayed for a long time and didn’t fly off when I talked to him either.

I cannot help that I am short, but people can help being rude about it. After 50+ years of dealing with rudeness and being picked on for it, it doesn’t so much hurt my feelings anymore as make me angry. When I was a child, it would have me in tears. Mama always told me to just ignore it, but I never could. It wasn’t like I was wearing an ugly dress that I could change. They were picking on “me”, something I could do absolutely nothing about. They acted like it was a fault, something bad to be. I am blessed to have this part of my grandma and granny with me!

                                          Have a blessed day, y'all!

    1. Thanks! When I wrote the post, I thought he was some type of grackle, but after further research, I think he is a Brewer's Blackbird.

I haven't had Cocoa Pebbles in years, either. Maybe we need to remedy that. :)

      Have a blessed weekend!
