Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is one area of your life where you're a perfectionist? Is that a good thing?
I am an imperfect perfectionist across the board.  No, it isn’t a good thing.  Fear of failure paralyzes me more often than not, especially when it comes to expressing myself artistically.

2. What's something you find perfectly ridiculous?

I find getting a speeding ticket for going the speed limit totally ridiculous.

3. What's a skill you've developed by way of that old-fashioned saying, 'practice makes perfect?

Typing and crocheting.  While I still make mistakes, therefore, not perfect, but I am much better at them now than when I first started.

4. What's your idea of a perfect breakfast?

A perfect breakfast would most definitely include a lot of bacon!

5. What's a trip, holiday, vacation, or day outing you've taken that you'd rate a perfect 10? Tell us why.

I would rate our honeymoon a perfect 10.  We went to places that I had never been to and one place in particular that was on my list of places that I wanted to see before I died – Graceland.  We also went to the Biltmore House, Nashville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Atlanta, Spartanburg, and we touched down into Mississippi. Most of the things in the mountains were closed for the season (it was November).  It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip in many ways.

6. What quote or saying perfectly sums up your life right now? If you can't do perfect, how about one that comes close?

“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.” ~ Unknown

7. How would you spend $300 today?

If I were the one choosing what it would be spent on and it had to be spent on me, I would probably buy something that had to do with photography, such as a new lens, new filters, or editing software of some sort.
If I were in charge of choosing what to spend it on and it didn’t have to be spent on me, I would want to take care of some of David’s health issues. $300 wouldn’t take care of those, though. So, I would look through his Amazon wish list and buy something for his studio that would help him make the videos that he enjoys making.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

“Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.” ~ Maya Angelou

  1. I think a lot of people are imperfect perfectionists, myself included. I once got a speeding ticket when I wasn't speeding. I even had a car full of witnesses. I've never gotten over the frustration/unfairness of it. I like that Maya Angelou quote. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Oh how frustrating! I would still be upset about that, too!

I once got a speeding ticket in this town and, while I will admit that I was going over the speed limit, it wasn't intentional and I wasn't going as far over it as they said. I was going 35 in a 30 and they said I was going 41mph. I came off of one road onto another and there was no speed limit sign for about half a mile in that direction and the road I came off of was 35mph. I was livid and then the lady judge made me even angrier. She refused to allow my husband into the room with me for the discussion of this ticket. Heavenly Father must have been protecting me that day because I didn't end up in jail for contempt of court, which I most certainly had at that point.

I'm sorry you were treated unfairly. Does it make you want to blow raspberries at the officer every time you see him now? :)

Maya Angelou has some great statements, I think. Thank you. :)

  2. I am so glad you stopped by my blog this morning so I could return the visit and meet you. Both your quotes were great and I can so relate to being an "imperfect perfectionist."

    1. Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed the quotes. What do you do to try to keep the perfectionism from keeping you in bondage?

By the way, when I was little, I had a cousin with the same name as yours.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed day. :)

  3. Wow...powerful quote you shared! I'm always in the market for new photography equipment, too...why does it have to be so expensive?

    1. Thank you. :)

I wish that I knew! Don't they know we'd buy more of it if it was less expensive? :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed day!

    1. Thanks, Annie. :) I hope that you will jump in and play along. I have a list of writing prompts that I saved quite some time back. They were in my older computer. I will try to look through my files later today and send them whenever I find them. Some of my files apparently did not successfully make the transfer. :/

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope that you have a great week, too, and a blessed day. :)

    1. Thanks, Ellen. I wish more people would take that quote to heart, too. If we could just shake off those that we mean nothing to and move forward, life would be less complicated and hurtful.

Bacon is great. I am picky about how I like it, but when it has reached perfection, I could probably eat it at every meal. haha

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed night. :)

    1. Thank you! Yes, it was a very exciting and happy moment in our lives. Graceland wasn't what I had imagined it to be and the Biltmore House was more than I could have ever imagined. I was very blessed to have a dream come true while embarking on the biggest dream of my life - being married. :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed day!

  7. That's such a thought-provoking quote...and one that would be a good guide as one moves through her/his life. Sounds like you visited a lot of interesting places on your honeymoon.

    1. Thank you. Both quotes have me thinking about a lot of things. What can I create that will last long after I do? I'm a long way from creating the perfect flower photograph or poem, but I will keep trying. What about you?

Yes, we sure did. It was a wonderful trip, full of beautiful places and moments. :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed weekend.
