Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:
  1. My middle name is ______________________.
  2. ______________________________ surprises.
  3. The Super Bowl _________________________.
  4. My favourite sport is __________________.
Here are my responses:
1. I am one of the maybe rare people that does not have a middle name. My younger sister doesn’t have one either. Our mother figured when we grew up and got married our maiden name would become our middle name. We didn’t need another one in there muddying up the works.
Our daughters got the middle names that my sister and I didn’t get. Both of our daughters have a first name, two middle names, and their surname.
2. I do not like surprises. Not. One. Bit.
3. The Super Bowl is nothing to me but an extra headache.  There are drunks all over the roads here anyway, but there will likely be even more of them this weekend. The Super Bowl is in Houston this time, so I know I do not want to have to go there for anything at all!
4. My favorite sport is…other than figure skating, I don’t have a favorite sport.  I enjoyed watching the two times that the University of South Carolina was in the College World Series, but that’s about it. They won the last game in the old stadium and the first one in the new stadium.

    1. Even first names caused no end of headache at the ER.
I wish that I could figure skate and win the Silver Seven. Thank you, by the way.
      Love you, my Zing.

  2. I like watching figure skating, but haven't even tried to skate since I was a kid - at which time, I sprained my ankle.

    1. I've never done any ice skating. There wasn't an ice rink around my hometown when I was a kid and it never, ever got cold enough to freeze the waterways there. I'm sorry that your sprained your ankle when you were skating.

      Have a blessed weekend!

  3. Great answers, I am glad you still had time to participate. I think you are the first person I ever heard of without a middle name. I said I don't like any sports, but I forgot about figure skating, that is fun to watch. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks, Ellen. I'm glad we got to participate, too. We plan to comment on the other folks' posts when we get back home Saturday night.

I'm glad to be the first at something. :) I got lots of teasing at school as a kid because I didn't have a middle name. They always just assumed that it was something awful and that I didn't want to share it with them.

I think it is fun to watch figure skating and used to imagine that I was able to do so while watching them glide across the ice. Of course, I probably would crash through the ice if I tried it these days. :)

      Have a blessed weekend!

  4. Two middle names? Wow. I hope your daughters feel special. I didn't think about drunk drivers when it comes to Super Bowl Sunday. I guess because I'm usually just in the house but that's a good point and a shame. I agree that figure skating is very lovely to watch.

    1. I think they kind of like having the extra name. Our youngest daughter is contemplating adding another name to her collection. She gets a lot of grief about the way I spelled her first name and for the name that she goes by. We have always called her Maggie, after my maternal grandma. Her legal name is Maeghan. "Mae" is for my grandma's older sister. People are forever telling her, "That isn't how you spell Megan". No, it isn't, but her name isn't Megan. OY! People most always assume that her first name is Margaret because her nickname is Maggie. Several people have thought her first name must be Magnolia. Magnolia is the name she might be adding to her collection. She's getting pretty tired of having to put up with people telling her that she's wrong like she doesn't know her own name.

I agree that it is a shame about the drunk drivers. This state, or at least this area, is pretty lacking when it comes to enforcing drunk driving laws. It seems that it is just a money-making thing. Drive drunk, pay the fine, and you're good to go. At least back home in SC, the drunk driving laws had some enforcement. It didn't stop people from doing it, but three strikes and you're out. No license and no freedom because there's jail time involved.

Do you have a favorite figure skater?

      Have a blessed weekend!

  6. I have a friend who wasn't given a middle name for the same reason you don't have one. Funny how people seem to think everyone gets married.

    1. Yes, it is funny that they assume everyone will get married. I always assumed that I would never get married. I was sure that no one would ever want to marry me, so I felt ripped off since I didn't have a middle name. I figured Mama could have let me have one and I could deal with learning how to squeeze four names onto the little lines on forms if necessary. Then, I met David and he changed that. It worked out. I have three names now and my sister made up for it, too. She's been married twice.

      Have a blessed weekend!

  7. I worked with a gal who didn't have a middle name. She always called me, Ida P. (my middle initial) and I called her, Debbie-No Middle Name. - I don't think I'd like to be on the road anywhere with drunks.
I enjoy figure skating but missed them this past month.

    1. It sounds like you and your co-worker had some fun together. :)
I hate being on the road with drunks, but it is a given that they're all over out here. It is a rare sober person that we meet up with around here. Some of these folks even load up birthday parties for year-old babies with alcohol. That's when you know the party is more for the grownups than the kids. It is just another excuse for them to get drunk. I haven't met a kid yet that wanted to be surrounded by drunks during their birthday party.

I haven't watched figure skating in years. I'm sorry that you missed watching them this past month. Maybe next time.

      Have a blessed weekend!

  8. I sometimes wish I had done something with my maiden name. It was a really great name. But, I do like being Annie!
I am glad things are going well with your neighbor. Hugs.

  9. Suzanne, Both my parents and MIL do not have middle names. We have middle names and made a point to give our kids middle names. I'm not sure why it should matter so much but it does. I like surprises as long as they are good ones. We love football and we did watch the Super Bowl. Although we rooted for Atlanta, we weren't too upset that New England pulled off a victory. I always liked watching ice skating in the Olympics. Do you remember couples figure skating with the girls wearing long dresses? I loved that! It made me think of ballroom dancing on ice! I hope all is well with you. Any good news on the cataract surgery? Saying prayers for you!

    1. I don't know why it should matter, either, or be something to tease someone about. Do you know why your grandparents didn't give your parents middle names? My daddy and his siblings had middle names and, as far as I know, my mama and all of her siblings have middle names, too. Mama didn't appreciate hers as it is a boy name. Her middle name is Howard, which is one of her daddy's names. His name was William Howard Taft Spence. Why they gave that to Mama for a middle name, I'll never know. She hated it and I'm sure she endured much teasing about it if the other kids at school knew it.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the Super Bowl even though Atlanta didn't win. We didn't watch it, but followed the scores online. We were so hopeful that they'd win, but we didn't get worked up about it like some folks did. Most of the folks around here didn't really have a dog in that fight since none of the Texas teams were in it.

Yes, I remember them skating in the long dresses. It was great. :)

We're still waiting on good news about the cataract surgery. Hopefully soon. Thank you for the prayers and for everything. :)

      Have a blessed week!

  10. One of the options my parents had in my name pool involved a first name accompanied by no middle name. They went for another option instead, though, so I have the same middle name as pretty much every lady on my mom's side of the family. It's Marie, and I've always loved it.

And I agree that any "fun" the Super Bowl might be is negated by all of the craziness and drunk drivers. I hope you were able to steer clear of it all! The only thing that I like about the Super Bowl is that I get to watch the Kitten Bowl and Puppy Bowl on Tv. Also, I love to watch figure skating. What a graceful sport it is.

Many blessings to you and yours!

    1. I think that Marie is a pretty name. One of my high school friends was named Marie. :)

Thank you. For the most part, we avoided any problem drivers. We were busy helping out friend and by the time we were back out on the road, all the drunks were probably passed out somewhere. I've never heard of the Bowls that you mentioned. What a cute idea!

I agree; ice skating is a very graceful sport.

      Have a blessed week!
