My responses:
There are many Christmas songs that I love: Silent Night, Away in a Manager, Mary Did You Know?, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Little Drummer Boy, What Child is This. The one that I could do without ever hearing again is Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer.
I loved the ornaments we had for the kids for their first Christmases. However, one year they took down the tree and I haven't seen those ornaments since. Each year, we try to buy an angel, either an ornament or a tree topper, to commemorate our angel baby Dorian who was stillborn 15 July 1993.
Christmas dinner here is a repeat of Thanksgiving! I love those foods very much and consider that whole meal a treat.
Every year, at some point between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we watch the original Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. We always ring in the New Year with a kiss, even though the New Year's night between 2012 and 2013 got interrupted by a blasted nurse walking in just as the ball dropped, so I missed seeing it drop that night. That was the only one that I didn't see in our 32 years together so far. We still got our kiss that night, though. She didn't rob me of that. :)

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I like all the songs you chose and totally agree on Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. That is a sweet idea to get angel ornaments to represent your angel.Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. Thank you and Annie both for hosting the fill-ins.
DeleteThat song makes me very sad. It makes me think of my grandma and how could a hurt grandma be funny at all?
We got the angel for Dorian tonight. I hope to take a picture of it soon to post.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed weekend and a very Merry Christmas.:)
Your angel tradition is so sweet. And I'm starting to think I'm the only person who enjoys hearing Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer...LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am getting ready to post some pictures of the new angel.
DeleteI think I saw one other person that likes that song. It just makes me very sad.

Your angel tradition is beautiful. And I hope you get an uninterrupted New Year's!! I often am alone with the kids on New Year's because hubby has to work - or he's sleeping because he's going to work. It's a trade off so he can have Christmas off... but I miss my New Year's Eve kiss!! ha.
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) I hope so, too, and not in a hospital! I'm sorry that your hubby has to work on New Year's Eve/Day. Maybe one year he'll get to be off on both Christmas AND New Year's. Wouldn't that be great?
DeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed week and a very Merry Christmas. :)
I am sorry for your loss. We lost two babies...and more. I understand the pain. That is a sweet tradition. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annie. I am so sorry for the losses that you have suffered, too. {{{Hugs}}}
DeleteThe only comfort I have ever found in this grief is that I know we will see our babies again someday. For now, they enjoy a life with Heavenly Father, where no evil can ever touch them, no pain, no sorrow, no heartache. Only good and blessed things will they ever know.
Merry Christmas, Annie, and a very happy New Year.
