Looking out my window…I see dreariness and rain.
As I ponder…what my life will be like as a blind person, what cataract surgery will be like if we're able to fund it, and how I will cope with no longer being able to do things like photography, knitting, and my genealogy research if I am not able to have the surgery.
What I am learning…One should be careful what they ask for.
What I'm creating…I have started on a Grandmother's Flower Garden crochet afghan in some colors that are called Neons. Some are bright, others not so much. I'm starting with yellow. It is such a happy color.
What I'm reading…I finally finished Uninvited and plan to post the review of it tomorrow. What I have open on my Kindle now is The $1,000 Money Trick. It says it is about how to earn extra income with online and offline businesses. We'll see how this goes.
What I'm watching…David sleeping. I do a lot of that these days.
What I'm hearing…I am hearing the air conditioner running as well as Petra shaking her head which is shaking her collar. I also hear our daughter occasionally typing on her keyboard.
What I'm drinking…Diet Coke; I'm addicted!
What's happening in the kitchen…There's not much going on in the kitchen this week. We'll be having sandwiches, salads, and roasted potatoes along the way. Not at the same time, mind you.
A quote I want to share…"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. Right after my eye exam today, at which I learned that I have cataracts in both eyes, David and I were turning down the aisle in the WM craft department. This verse popped out at me from the top of a coloring book. We went back and bought the coloring book. We felt like the message was Heavenly Father trying to comfort me as I processed the news of my sick eyes and my potential blindness.
A peek into my week…We go back to the Island this weekend to get the baby child for Christmas holidays. If she decides to take the mini-mester, she'll be back at school by the New Year. Otherwise, she'll be here until probably mid-January. The only other thing until next Monday, that I can remember, is taking our oldest baby girl to work and back and maybe going out to see the Christmas lights again.
What I'm coloring…Hey, Paula! I have a coloring book now! Here is the cover of the coloring book mentioned earlier. I haven't started coloring in it yet. I wasn't sure what you're supposed to use to color in these fancy coloring books, so we got colored pencils.
I found a link for a free 92-page adult coloring book for the holidays. It is a free PDF download. Click here to go to the download page.

A final thought…I am scared to death of becoming blind and never being able to see my husband's or children's faces again, never seeing my future grandchildren, never being able to take a picture or seeing beautiful flowers again, never being able to knit again, never walking a cemetery and reading the stones, and never being able to do my genealogy work again. There is so much yet to do. I am terrified of the things that I've read about cataract surgery. And what demon thought of making a person stay awake for such a thing?!?!
Drac and I have the same idea about things touching eyeballs. See the clip below! This clip stops just short of Drac saying, "Fingers away from the eyeballs!"

I will be praying that you can get your surgery. I just did an internet search and found a list on this site of places that may be able to help: https://nei.nih.gov/health/financialaid
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen, for searching ideas for me. We will definitely look into this site.

I am so sorry about your eyes. Hopefully you will be able to get the surgery! Was so good of Ellen to do that search for you. YAY for a coloring book!! I will look at the freebie too! I don't know if I know what state you live in! I'll have to search for that as well. Ha! Ha! I have a lot of searching to do. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paula. Somehow it will all work out however it is meant to work out. I'll whine about it, I'm sure, but if I have to live blind, then that's what I have to do. Hopefully I won't have to.
DeleteYes, that was very sweet of Ellen. She's a very sweet person. :)
If I find anymore free coloring books online, I'll be sure to let you know.
