Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:
1. Yesterday, __________.
2. _______ re-gift_________.
3. My favourite holiday leftover is _______________ .
4. The best part of a long, holiday weekend is ______________ .
Here are my responses:
Yesterday, I ate way too much and thought that I was going to explode. That means it was a perfect day. It would have been even more perfect if Laynie hadn't had to work this morning and if Davey could have been here, too.
I don't know that I have ever re-gifted anything, but it seems a practical thing to do. When we buy gifts for people, we hope that they either love it or can use it, preferably both. We don't want our money to be wasted. If they can't love or use it, why shouldn't they pass it along to someone who can? The lesson that I should learn if something I give is re-gifted is to pay better attention to the likes, wants, and needs of the receiver.
My favorite holiday leftover is…all of them! But, to be more specific, turkey, dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce are my favorite. In my opinion, they are a set. You can't have one without the other. It just isn't done. :)
The best part of a long, holiday weekend is not having to work. We are retired, so, every weekend, every week, is a long weekend for us.

You are an excellent cook. And, if I were not still about to explode, I would ask you for a heaping helpin' of leftovers.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am glad that you enjoyed it. You'll get to enjoy it some more with all of the leftovers I put in the freezer. :)
DeleteSuzanne, When we buy presents we try to think of things the person needs or wants and if they it isn't a perfect fit then they can return or regift the item. It doesn't bother me in the least. Too bad Dave couldn't be home yesterday. I hope y'all saved enough T-D dinner for him to enjoy when he shows up, though. :D Have a blessed weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy. I hope that you had a great weekend, too. Ours was fine, just very hectic. I am way behind on everything after a week of family, food, and fun and 700 or so miles of driving to get the baby girl and take her back to school. :)
DeleteIt will quite possibly be next June before we see Davey again going by what he last said to me. We were hoping for January, then February, and now it might be put off until June. By then, it will have been two years since we were with our baby boy. I can't stand this. I'm proud as can be of our Marine, but this mama heart can't stand the separation.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving, enjoy those leftovers. We will be having ours for days. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen. We really enjoy the fill-ins and look forward to them each week. I hope that you had a nice Thanksgiving, too. Ours was great, but we definitely missed having Davey here.
DeleteWhat are your plans for this week?

I think leftovers are better than the day they were cooked. Do you mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving? I grew up in the north and that's what we had. Took awhile to get used to rice when I moved south.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about leftovers, at least most of them. I can't think of anything that tastes worse the second day. When Davey is home, I make mashed potatoes, no matter the occasion. This year, he wasn't home for Thanksgiving. We had ham and mashed potatoes and peas that Wednesday night.
DeleteI love both rice and mashed potatoes and grew up with both in South Carolina. Rice is a big crop in our area of Texas. Everything is "rice this or rice that". :)

I pretty much agree with what you say here, except for leftovers. I don't have to have it all together. I am not a fan of "fud coma". *wink* HUGS!
ReplyDeletehaha I haven't had a food coma yet, but I have had an "oh no, I'm going to explode!" After this past Thanksgiving meal, I was sure I wouldn't be able to eat again for another week. :)

I love leftovers. Somehow they always taste better the next day.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Oh yeah, they sure do!
