Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:

1. _____________________should be taught in schools.
2. The last item I donated was ___________________________.
3. My (personal) song is _______________, because _______________ .
4. Three things I am thankful for this week are:

Here are my answers:

I think that manners and decorum should be taught in schools (as well as at home!). I think that it should go beyond the "please", "thank you", "yes ma'am", "no, sir", etc., that children are taught in kindergarten and first grade. The lessons should grow with the child from elementary school through high school into lessons about how to act in various social situations.  This should definitely involve lessons about getting their noses out of their cell phones long enough to interact with the person with whom they are having dinner.

The last things that I remember were some knitted hats that we sent back home to our church in South Carolina. Also, during our de-cluttering, I found a Fire Safety program that included a book and a tape and gave it to the kids next door.

I don't know that I have a "Suz" song. The song that meant the most to me when I was a little girl, the one I requested every Sunday morning at church, was "The Old Rugged Cross".  As a teenager, my favorite song that our teen choir sang was "Jesus is the Cornerstone".   As a young adult, my favorite song was Sandi Patty's rendition of "We Shall Behold Him".  As a middle-aged adult, my favorite…and the most peaceful song I've ever heard…is Enya's version of Silent Night, titled "Oiche Chiun".  If you've never heard it, please click the title to listen to it.  It is absolutely beautiful.

Three things that I am thankful for this week are: The US Marine Corps, which had its 241st birthday yesterday; the right to vote; and my husband and our children.

Have a blessed weekend, y'all!

  1. Oh, amen on manners and decorum! It seems that people of all ages need this course. Those are really good donations, too. You are both very kind to make and donate those things. I have many songs and hymns that I love, too. Amazing Grace makes me cry. How Great Thou Art does, too. That was my Grampy's favourite. I grew up Southern Baptist. I am thankful that you have those blessings, too. They are good ones. Hugs.

    1. I agree; the young and not-so-young need to learn and exercise better manners. In regards to the donations, I love to knit and crochet. I just wish that I could do both faster. It is already cold back home. It is 48 degrees there right now. I think it would be cool to be able to knit or crochet a hat for every baby head in Anderson County, South Carolina. But, the birth rate will always far exceed my finger speed. :)

Amazing Grace makes me cry, too. We had it played on the bagpipes at David's daddy's funeral. How Great Thou Art is a beautiful song. It was played at my grandma's funeral. I love both Elvis' and Big Chief Jim Wetherington's renditions of it.

I grew up Methodist/Pentecostal Holiness/Church of God. David was Southern Baptist, so I started attending a Baptist church with him. It was not at all the same, I tell you!

  2. Suzanne, first off let me say, "Thank you to your son for serving our great country." Like, you I'm thankful to have the right to vote and for the way this election turned out. Trump gets a bad rap from people. He's not perfect like the rest of us but I see good in his heart and believe he will help this country to get back on her feet. Finally, I am also thankful for my DH and children. Have a good weekend, my friend and blessings to you!

    1. Thank you, Cathy. :) He says, "You're welcome."

I didn't vote for either of the main candidates. I chose a write-in candidate, Darrell Castle. He was a pro-life candidate and that is the make-or-break issue for me, regardless of the other issues.

Hopefully Trump will hold true to his word about being pro-life. I have heard some pretty awful things about both of the main candidates involving sexual abuse of children. I pray it is just misinformation and dirty politics and not that they were really doing those horrible things to children. :(

You and I are very blessed in our families. :) Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed weekend!

  4. Those songs are all very beautiful. I think the old school ways where everyone learned decorum were the best.

    1. Thank you. I think so, too. I think the old ways were better, too, for the most part. I wasn't too impressed with Miss Cromer's way of teaching me anything, though. :)

  5. Great answers.

I agree manners and decorum should be taught in both places.

The things you are thankful for are wonderful.
