Word-High July: Tinatangi

For the most part, we all long for a very special someone, and when they come along, it seems that all is right with the world. We feel complete. There are several degrees of special that push us toward this completeness.

The most special someone in my life is, of course, my husband David. We met when I was 14 years old and have been a couple since I was 16 years old. We have been married 31 years now. We have, at times, taken each other to the heights of Heaven and the depths of hell through these years together. Like the song says, "Through it all, love remains." With his help, the next most special people in my life came - our sons and daughters.

Before David and I got together, as I was a child growing up back in South Carolina, the most special people in my life were my Grandma and Grandpa Spence, my Granny and Papa Gunter, and my grandma's sister known to me as Aunt Mae. Grandma and Granny were total opposites in regards to personality. Grandma was very soft-spoken and Granny was very outspoken, but both of them loved deeply. I was blessed to be a receiver of that love and loved them with an intense love in return. I am glad that they live on through me and my children.
