1. Pokemon Go...your thoughts? Are you playing? Do you even know what it is?

All I know about it is that it is a game that is making people behave, to quote a favorite VamPa, "nutsy cuckoo!" As I understand it, you wander about with an app open on the phone looking for Pokemon goomers and generally not paying attention to what is going on around you, thereby endangering yourself and others. Beyond that, no, I don't know what it is. According to the local newspaper, it has become all the rage on the square in town.

2. What was something you collected as a child? Do you still have that collection? If you're a parent what's something your own children collected? Have you ever camped out, stood in a crazy long queue, or paid a ridiculous sum for a 'collectible'?

I can't think of anything specifically that I collected as a child, unless you want to count mosquito bites, which I still seem to be collecting. My own children collected Warrior series books. It was a cool series about cats. They are also majorly into the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series.

I have no intention of camping out or standing in long lines to buy anything, nor the money to pay big prices for a collectible (or anything else, for that matter). I generally try to be practical.

3. "Collect moments, not things"...tell us about a moment you've added to your collection this summer.

Does being in the path of a falling tree count? I was just about to step off of the patio and heard a crackling noise. I looked up just as a tree part fell right in front of me. This was a few weeks ago. That thing was huge and could have splattered me good. Thankfully, I was too distracted by the crackling and stopped to listen to it rather than continuing to step off the patio or the story would have been entirely different.

4. What's something collecting dust in your home right now? Any plans to do something about it?

Everything! This town has to be the dustiest one that we've ever lived in. No matter how much things are dusted or vacuumed, it is still dusty here. There's nothing that I can do about it.

5. A favorite song relating to time?

Remember When? By Alan Jackson

6. What's been your most frightening or your most interesting encounter with wildlife?

I would have to say the time that we were at Brazos Bend State Park and I almost put my foot into an alligator's mouth. The thing about it is I was walking along being very aware of the thousands of alligators on all sides of us. I was just so busy looking at those a bit away from us that I missed the one right at my foot. David said, "Look out!" I'm surprised I didn't fall into the water from the startling it gave me. Thankfully, the thing didn't chomp me!

7. On July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong set his foot down on the moon. If you could travel to the moon would you go? Why or why not?

Absolutely not! I can only imagine the hassle and man-handling one would get from the TSA going on *that* trip! Besides the aversion to strangers touching me, I am very claustrophobic and couldn't stand being closed up in something as long as it would take to get to the moon.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Can it be winter now?
Please?

    1. Thanks. I agree. It is a good thing the tree made a noise before it fell.

  3. nutsy cuckoo, a good response. That is a scary story about alligators. I can wait until winter, but it would be nice to have some Autumn here.

    1. Thank you. About the alligators, yes, it most definitely got my blood and my bladder pumping pretty good. haha

Our winters here are much like fall and spring for other areas, but we don't get the great leaf color change in the fall. It never gets really cold here, at least not by our standards. The native folks here are in parkas once it hits 60 degrees. :)

  4. Oh my goodness! Stepping into the mouth of an alligator! Shudder!! I haven't seen anyone acting 'nutsy cookoo' over the game yet! Have a wonderful Wednesday.

    1. It was pretty scary. Now that we're less able to get around, we haven't been back to that park. While I still want to get a great photo of an alligator with its mouth wide open, I'm just not brave enough to be around them anymore. Neither one of us could outrun one at this point, that's for sure!

I haven't seen anyone playing that game at all, that I know of. I'm glad you haven't seen anyone being nuts over it either. The local newspaper reported on a larger than usual crowd on our courthouse square because of the game. But, this is a small town and that huge crowd was about 30 people. Laynie (our oldest daughter) goes to school in Houston and said there were hundreds of folks playing it at Memorial Park.

  5. Oh goodness I can't imagine ever wanting to get that close to alligators. I'm glad you stopped before the tree got you. We've had a bit of a heatwave since the weekend but I don't want winter just yet, just normal summer temperatures please.

    1. I was more brave (or maybe more stupid!) back then. I still want to get the alligator photo, but that is just going down into the "not going to happen" file. Thank you. Hopefully, now that some folks came to deal with trees around the yard, it won't happen again.

Unfortunately, extreme heat is normal for our summers here on the Texas Gulf Coast. What are your usual summer and winter temperatures? How hot has it gotten during your heatwave?

  6. Wow, so glad you were not hurt by that falling tree part! Alligators scare me to death. No you can't have winter yet!

    1. Thank you. I don't know that I would have been able to get it off of me had it landed on me. Live oaks are incredibly heavy, even when one is just trying to move a small part of one. It probably would have kept me pinned down long enough for the snakes to eat me or for the alligators to get here.

At this point in my life, I agree with you about alligators. They are scary, powerful creatures. I was somewhat apprehensive back then, but I wanted to take a specific picture, so I had to be around them. I never got the shot, though.

      But I want winter now!

  7. Nice to learn more about you. I agree, can it be winter now? I am glad you were not injured by the tree, your guardian angels were with you.

    1. Thank you. Yes, they were there for me and I am so thankful. :)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just flip a switch and choose the season that we want? It could change it just for us, not affecting anyone else's choices or weather...just our own personal micro-climate.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed evening!
