This week's prompt: What would you do differently, if you knew no one would judge you?

I love to sing! Mostly, though, I don't do it unless I am alone. I can't stand my voice. The old recordings of people mocking my voice, laughing at me, saying that I couldn't carry a tune in a tin bucket (who could?), and that I sounded disgusting have muted the song in me that is dying to get out. Their laughter brought me tears deeper than they could ever fathom.

Heavenly Father gave me a song in my dreams once, but when I woke up I could no longer remember the words. The voice was the most beautiful that I have ever heard. I can still feel the music that was left behind.

If I could sing without fear of judgement and ridicule, I would sing and probably never stop.

  1. I feel the same way about my singing. I'd love to sing in pubic, on a stage, but I don't think I could do it~

    1. I'm sorry that something is holding you back, too. Maybe some day we'll fly from these cages we're in and people will be sorry that they have muted our songs,

      Have a blessed day!

  2. As a former choir girl myself, I totally understand this. I wouldn't sing in front of anyone these days. I stopped singing a lifetime ago and while I feel I can carry the high note long, loud and proud, the only witness is the review mirror in my car :-)

    Stopping by from Rory's place.

    1. What do you think got you to the point of not wanting to sing in front of others these days?

I was in the teen choir for awhile many, many years ago. Now, the thought of being in a choir would send me shivering into a corner somewhere. To tell you the truth, I am surprised that I ever went through with the audition for it. The choir director was a very nice man and he never ridiculed me for my singing.

I'm glad that you have fun singing in your car. :)

      Have a blessed week!

  3. I am an excellent shower singer!!! And I always sing when I am in the kitchen...and no one else is home. Ha. It's weird because I think I can carry a basic tune - I wouldn't embarrass myself to sing Happy Birthday or anything, and my girls always want me to sing a lullaby to them Every Single Night. For like 9 years. So I can't be that bad.... but yeah, NEVER in public. Nope.
And you cannot afford the beer required to make me do karaoke either. I mean, I'm Irish, but give it your best shot I guess. LOL

    1. Believe me, I would never be one to pester someone to sing in public. I think it is school that you're a show singer. Our girls love to belt it out, too. What do you like to sing in the kitchen?

      I'm Irish, too. :)

      Have a blessed week!
