Questions

Are you still enjoying (or not) summer, or are you geared for fall?

It is always too hot here in the summer time. I love winter, except generally it is too warm here in the winter, too. 89 degrees on Christmas Eve is not normal in the real world. I think it is a law around here.

What's the one room in your home that you'd like to make a big change to?

All of them! I would love to make such a change that it was an entirely different house, wayyyyyyy out in the boonies. In regards to making an actual change in this house, the first place I would choose is the kitchen. It is not laid out the best way for me and the cabinets/counter tops are too high for my short stature.

Do you ever send "snail mail"?

Yes, we send snail mails to our new Marine fairly often. Unfortunately, more are being returned to us than ever reach him. :(

Do you dream? Often? Do you have nightmares?

I dream often and most of the time remember at least a little snippet of the dream. I have had a string of bad dreams lately. In one bad dream, my husband called me fat and uneducated. In another, I composed a suicide note. Both had me pretty unnerved afterwards.

Tell me something that makes you happy. Please.

Finding new information for my family history project makes me very happy. I found out over the last week or so that some of our folks used to live in a castle. I found pictures of the castle, well, of the keep, which is all that remains of that castle. It is called Hopton Castle and was involved in the civil war between Parliament and King Charles I.

  1. It must be exciting to find out new information about your ancestors.
I don't know much about my ancestors, but somehow I have a feeling that none of them lived in a castle...

    1. I never would have imagined it either, really, but was happy to find this information. Most of my family in recent history has been lucky to even have a house, so a castle was a really cool find. :)

I bet that your family history holds surprises for you, too, Romi. :)

  2. That is so cool that you can even see pictures of your ancestors' castle! Love the arches over the door and windows! Even with the tree sticking out of the top, I would frame a picture of it and hang it in my home :-) Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you. I think that framing a picture of it would be great, too. :) Isn't it amazing how long some of the older structures have survived? I can't imagine any house or building built these days surviving for over 700 years! I wish that I could see the rest of the castle, what it looked like when it was first built, but I'm happy to see what remains.

  3. How fun to do the genealogy of your family and find they lived in a castle! That must make you princess material for sure!

    1. Princess Suzanne...has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? haha I probably would have landed myself in the Tower. Little Suz was known to be a bit bratty on occasion. I imagine adding a princess title to that would have only made things worse. :) Sometimes, that brattiness comes out to play, even now!
