A to Z April Challenge: W is for Where...

...As in where I come from.

I was born on a hot August night in the mid-1960s in Anderson County, South Carolina. First born of a second born daddy and a fourth born mama with over three hundred years of family behind us. My daddy and my grandpa were born in the same hospital where I was born, where mine and David's surviving children were born. My mama was the first of her mother's children to be born in a hospital (in another county - Abbeville) due to complications during my grandma's labor.

Anderson County is in the northwest corner of South Carolina where it borders with Georgia. Here are a couple of links to learn more about where I come from:

Visit Anderson
The hometown newspaper online is how I keep up with the news going on back home: Independent Mail

There are many songs out there about "back home". This is one of my favorite.

This one isn't about where I came from, but about where I belong, which is by David's side for eternity, no matter our geographical location. So, with lots of love, here's to you, David!

Where are you from? How far from "home" are you? Do you wish to go back?

    1. Thank you, Denise. By the time we get down to this end of the alphabet, I am really struggling for a topic. :)

  2. I am from the northwestern part of Japan, and I now live in the house where I was brought up. -- I have lived in five different cities before, and I am glad that I have come back to my hometown at last.

    1. How wonderful that you now live in the home where you were brought up. That is such a blessing. For the most part, all of the houses that I lived in as a child no longer exist. They were either torn down for "progress" or they burned. The last place where I lived with my parents before I got married was destroyed by a tornado several years ago, leaving my daddy basically homeless for a time.

I am glad that you were able to return home. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed week!

  3. Anderson is a pretty city although it's been a long time since I've been there. I'm from central VA, almost 300 miles away and am ready to move back.

    1. Thank you. When were you last in Anderson? I haven't been there since September 2004, which is when we moved to Texas. Maybe some day it will work out for you to move back home. I hope so! I have an aunt that lives in Norfolk, VA and one of my brothers lives in VA, too. He was in the area of the Pentagon when the events of 9-11 happened, but PTL he was safe. It was a long time before we heard from him, though, so we were very worried.
