Trying to sleep is almost always a big waste of time for me. I'll get almost asleep and hear a noise and wake up. It is just easier to stay awake and let sleep sneak up on me and knock me out in my chair rather than going to bed planning to sleep and get woke up every time I'm almost there.
I don't think that I've baked a pie since my late father-in-law was alive. He died in 1987. The pie that stands out the most to me was when I baked him a pecan pie. I forgot that it was in the oven so it cooked for about an hour longer than it was supposed to. :)
I would love to be able to go to the cemeteries back home now that I know about more folks up my family tree!
Old clothes here generally get thrown away because we wear them until they are practically falling apart.
I would bring salad with lots of red onion, garlic, walnuts, and golden raisins.
I love pecan pie however I have never made one. My pie baking days are less frequent since the kids left home. Pies are baked for special occasions only!
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite pie to eat or make? I like lots of different kinds (pecan, apple, cherry), but I just don't make pies anymore.

Good answers.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise, for stopping by and commenting. I hope that you have a blessed week!
DeleteI always like making a pecan pie for the holidays. That's a tricky kind of pie to make, too. You leave it too long and it's hard, too short and it's gooey.
ReplyDeleteYes, staying in too long definitely gives them brick status, just like the royal icing did to a cake that I made once. We couldn't even cut the thing. haha

Oh dear, crispy pecan pie. :)
ReplyDeleteYep. It went from being a pie to being a brick. :)

Hah! I love the pie being in the oven for an extra hour! I am so easily distracted and if I didn't have a loud timer going off, I'd have many burnt offerings instead of edible pies!
ReplyDeleteAnne x
Knowing me, I forgot to set the timer to start with. :) I had a very active baby boy at the time...I'm really surprised that I didn't burn the house down at some point because of not being able to get back to the stove to keep an eye on things. That boy was all over the place!

Pecan pie is one of my favorites but I have never tried to make one. I always buy one around the holidays though. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever made a Mississippi Mud Pie? My grandpa wanted one, but I never got around to making one for him. I had no clue what it was and this was before the internet was invented, so it took a little more work to get info since it wasn't in any of my baking books. I still have never made one.

I bought a wind up timer that helps me not to forget as long as I don't forget to set it.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me, because I would likely forget to set the timer, too!

Well done pecan pie! We've all forgotten things that were cooking.Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure that we all have. It is getting worse for me lately. I've let water boil out of so many things over the last week, it's ridiculous!
