1. May is National Asparagus Month - do you like it? Haves a favorite recipe?
I love asparagus! I like steamed asparagus, but no particular recipe.
2. May is also National Salad month... what's your favorite salad?
I like a classic iceberg salad with red onions, garlic, croutons, and bell peppers added to it. To top it off, I love ranch dressing. Ken's Buttermilk Ranch is the best we've found in the stores around here.
3. Laundry Question: Fabric Softener yea or nay? How do you keep your clothes soft and static free?
I don't use fabric softener. We're having to line dry the clothes for now and so they are stiff and crunchy. I don't know that a fabric softener added to the wash would do any good.
4. Do you speak more than one language? What language would you love to learn?
English is the only language that I'm anywhere close to speaking fluently. What I would love to learn is Gaelic!
And a 5th Question for my bloggy friends:
Have you been a victim or a benefactor of parental favoritism? Are you guilty of it yourself?
Yes my brother was the favorite son. He was the only boy among 3 girls.
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend with a family set up like that. He was the only son in a culture where the girls are not valued. He has five sisters. They'll tell you straight up that he is spoiled.
DeleteIt makes it hard when the parents are obvious about their preferences, doesn't it?

I think it's hard for parents to treat kids entirely equal... for me, I don't think it was favoritism per-say more circumstance...
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes it is impossible to be entirely equal because each child has different needs. But to make it so obvious that one child is preferred over another or loved over another one is just upsetting all around.

Our favorite Ranch is Newman's,Ken's being s3econd.
ReplyDeleteI think my parents were pret5ty equal with my brother and me, dad leaned maybe a little more towards my brother when the grandbabies were little, maybe a little m0ore to me now that the grands are grown and I am fairly handicapped, but my brother hovers when he's around me too.
I've never had Newman's dressing, but we're pretty set in our ways. Once we find something that we like, we don't like rocking the boat with trying a different brand. We take the chance on some things, like with bread, we aren't brand loyal. But cheese, salad dressing, sour cream, that sort of thing, we've visited icky too often when we try something different. I'm glad that you have two favorites to choose from. :) That makes it much easier if the store is out of one of them.
DeleteI'm glad that your parents were pretty much equal with you and your brother. It can lead to much resentment when they aren't. I think that it is sweet that they hover over you.

I'm an asparagus lover, too! So few people are, it seems. I found a place that had a great (and really, really reasonable!) happy hour asparagus thing...if only it were in my state. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHappy hour asparagus, how funny! Do you also like Brussels sprouts? I never had them as a child, but tried them several years ago and absolutely love them.
