The Sketchbook Challenge: Spirals #3

I spent a loooooooooong time at the dentist office with my son today. We were there for over three hours. I waited in the car while he went in to have the work done (he's almost 19, but I'm the only licensed driver here). While he was in there, I went back and forth between reading a book about craft businesses, which I got for free at Amazon.com (Craft Business Heroes - 30 Creative Entrepreneurs Share The Secrets Of Their Success), and crocheting a "granny-ghan". Making lapghans for the local nursing home is something that I'm beginning to do. They are based on the basic granny square, hence the name "granny-ghan".

My husband and I operated a baby charity for years back in South Carolina called "Dorian's Angels", but it fizzled out when we moved out here to Texas. The hospital here didn't need what we had to offer, and now this hospital doesn't even deliver babies anymore. There are still people in the nursing home that could do with a bit of crocheted love and I am going to do what I can to make sure they get it. I'm just going to have to get faster at it. :)

Here is a snapshot of the one that I am currently working on.

I love this yarn. It doesn't make my hands itch like many of them do. It is Peaches and Creme by Elmore-Pisgah Incorporated out of Spindale, North Carolina. It is 100% cotton and softer than I expected it would be when I first started using it.

While I was pulling out the yarn for the next round of stitches, the yarn fell onto my leg in spirals that reminded me of the mosaic-type pictures that I used to draw when I was younger. I took out my camera and took several shots of the light yarn against my dark pants and am working on cropping and coloring them. Here is one of them. What do you think of it?

    1. Thank you, Kristen. I love these soft colors, too. I have used some really bright colors in the past for afghans for my kids that were fun to use, too, except that the yarn made me itch. This Peaches and Creme yarn doesn't do that, thankfully. :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a wonderful week!
