Questions

Have you ever been on a boat? (Motor boat, sail boat, cruise ship, ark, or Good Ship Lollipop)

I have been on a motor boat. I actually got to drive it. I was a kid, maybe 13 years old at the most, and it was at a Sunday School party. I turned too sharply and nearly dumped Mrs. Bolt into the lake! I have also been in a Grayline tour boat that took us from the Battery in Charleston out to Fort Sumter in the harbor. The waters sure were rough that day. We didn't think that it would ever get close enough to the fort for us to be able to get out.

Do you need an alarm to wake up in the morning, or do you wake up naturally? If you have an alarm, tell us what type.

I use the alarm feature in our cell phones. However, many mornings I am awake long before the alarm goes off. I am not sleeping very well these days at all. I keep having too many weirdo dreams, too much on my mind, and too many things that I want to read. Sleeping is a waste of time.

Have you ever had a yard sale?

I don't remember ever having a yard sale, though I remember one time someone suggested that I do one for them because I was an "outsider". In other words, I was beneath this other person; they were too good to do a yard sale, so they wanted me to do it. That yard sale never happened.

Do you like kitchen gadgets? What are some of your favorite?

Yes, I like most anything for the kitchen. When we were younger and I was a master at experimenting in the kitchen, we had all sorts of gadgets. I can't think of a favorite; I liked them all.

Do you read labels at the grocery store?

Yes, I do. I have to. I live with multiple food and medicine allergies/intolerances and some could be fatal. Did you know that a person with a penicillin allergy shouldn't eat Bleu cheese? I didn't know that, but it is good that I found it out because penicillin nearly killed me as a newborn. If I ruled out everything that caused any negative reaction, I wouldn't be able to eat anything. I read the labels, decide if the food is worth the discomfort it will cause, and go from there. Some things, like Bleu cheese and kiwi and cashews I avoid completely because it is no fun to stop breathing, not knowing if I will start back again.

  1. Wow, what a story about the yard sale. Oh my gosh. I didn't know that about blue cheese.
Very interesting. It is nice to stop by and read your answers this week.

    1. Unfortunately, it was a relative that had those thoughts about me being an outsider. OY!

I thought it was interesting about bleu cheese, too. Thankfully it always looked too icky to me to bother trying it. :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I enjoyed your post, too. Have a great week!

  2. I cannot believe somebody would suggest you have a yard sale for them because they thought they were too good. I'm so glad you said NO!! What never some people have. And, I had no clue about the bleu cheese! Thanks for stopping by and commenting at Jeremiah 29:11. HOPE things get better for you and your hubby with his recent illness!

    1. You're welcome, Debbie, and thank you, too. David is feeling much better (except for an icky cold at the moment), but very worried about the finances. Something will improve on that front eventually. It usually does.

I'm glad that I didn't do that yard sale, too. :) Some folks are just too full of themselves and this person was one of those people.

Thanks for stopping by here and commenting. I hope that you have a great week.

  3. Poor Mrs. Bolt!:P Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well. From what you've said in other posts, I understand why. I fall apart without sleep. That never happened before 40, but I really crumble now. I understand reading labels. Well worth it! You've been on my mind lately. Hoping things will improve for you. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, Patrice. I think that Mrs. Bolt forgave me. She was one of my favorite Sunday School teachers...a very sweet lady. I wish I could have kept her. :)

Lots of things change for us after age 40, eh? My body is in constant conflict. If I lay down for more than six hours, I am in intense pain, but if I don't, then I'm sleepy all day. Good grief.

Thank you for thinking about me and for the well wishes. I hope that things are going fine for you. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great week!

  4. I can see how the whole stopping breathing thing would make a person not want to eat something.

    1. Yep, it is rather scary. The last time it happened, I was home alone. It was the first time I had kiwi.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Have a great week!

  5. OH NO...sleeping isn't a waste of time! It's God's way of renewing, refreshing, recreating us on a nightly basis. He sends us dreams, answers to our questions and holds us, lovingly, each night as we sleep. He knows you're not sleeping well; He knows you'd rather escape that which the dreams bring instead of His beautiful restorative renewal. Ask Him for His sleep; use the name of Jesus as a mantra against the dark. Lovingly whisper Jesus, Jesus, Jesus as you struggle against the dark. God gives us sleep as a gift; ask Him for His gift, He will not refuse you. Some helps...mug of warm milk, two aspirin (but not every night!), deep breathing...
I didn't know that about bleu cheese and I'm allergic to penicillin. Dave and I loved bleu cheese and I still eat it. Wonder if that means my childhood allergy has changed?
