Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 50: #36

I have missed participating in Chats on the Farmhouse Porch the last several weeks. This is one of my favorite memes. I hope that you will all consider stopping by to visit Patrice on her farmhouse porch. Just click the button below to be transported to a great farmhouse and place of friendship.

Questions
Do you exercise?
It depends on your definition of exercise. If you're meaning do I walk on the treadmill, do jumping jacks and sit-ups, and deep knee bends on a regular basis, no. But, if stretching, climbing, moving products around from one place to another, walking back and forth because I can only carry so many things at a time, then yes, I do exercise.
What's your favorite type of party or get together?
I like family reunions and have always enjoyed going to my granny's for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I really, really miss those times.
What's your favorite kind of melon?
I love watermelons and cantaloupes. Those are the only two that I can think of right now and I can't choose between them for an absolute favorite.
Do you ever go to a farmers' market?
Yes, we've gone. We love fresh veggies and it is fun to get to visit with the farmers that grow the food that we're eating.
Would you prefer a series of day trips, or a week's vacation?
It would depend on the places involved. If it were a trip to the beach, a day would be too long, in my opinion. If it were a trip to Ireland, even a week wouldn't be enough. Overall, though, I am fine with day trips. Aside from our honeymoon in 1984 and our evacuation for Hurricane Rita in 2005, we've never really had an extended vacation.

  1. I love your answer to the day trip vs vacation thing. You are so right about the location dictating the enjoyment of the trip. I'm with you about the beach, too. We used to live less than 10 miles from the ocean. We sometimes made it to the beach once or twice a year. Not my favorite place!

    1. Thanks! I nearly drowned as a young teen (in a swimming pool) and being around large bodies of water isn't my idea of a relaxing adventure at all.

What is your favorite type of place to go for either a day trip or an extended vacation?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great weekend!

  2. I like the way you termed it a "place of friendship"! I like watermelons too. I agree that a week wouldn't be long enough in Ireland. A month in the UK would be more my speed, but wouldn't be in line with my checkbook:( Good to see you back here. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks! I think that your porch is a very friendly place. :)

Even a trip to the town next door wouldn't be in line with my checkbook right now. :) A trip to Ireland would take a lifetime of saving nearly to get there. Then, there's dealing with all of the invasive airport procedures. OY!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. I appreciate it very much. Have a great weekend!

  3. Family reunions are nice, but I haven't been one in forever! It would be good to go to one, but I'm so claustrophobic and being around large crowds kind make me freak out a bit.

    1. I haven't been to one in ages either, not since we left South Carolina. We've been here in Texas almost 8 years.

I don't do well in large crowds either generally, but family reunions feel a bit different to me than the typical large crowd, even if it is family that is mostly strangers to me. I guess it is all the excitement of meeting family that I didn't know we had, as was the case with the last reunion that we went to. We found this branch of my husband's family via the internet and were able to go to two of the reunions (held every 2 years) before we moved out here. It is fun looking back at the pictures and seeing my babies as little ones again. :)

When was the last time that you went to one? Was it far from where you live? Ours was about two hundred miles or so from where we lived at the time.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. Have a great weekend!
