Meet Me on Monday by Acting Balanced

This Meet Me on Monday was started by Acting Balanced because we missed Java from Never Growing Old so very much! Please be sure to visit both sites.

Here are today's Questions:

1. What was the first live concert you ever attended?

I believe that it was a Sandi Patty concert. She has an amazing voice!

2. What colors look best on you?

When I was a little girl, dark green looked great on me. Maybe it is still a good color for me, but I rarely if ever wear it. I generally stick to earth tones and occasionally a red slips in there. My preferred color is black.

3. What is one thing about you that most people wouldn't know?

I am an incredibly bashful person and most people know this. But, during the delivery of my first baby, I had an audience. A class of about 30 student nurses (both male and female) asked if they could be present for the birth. I apparently told them yes, though I have no recollection of this.

4. Who would you call to be bailed out of jail?

I don't know. Nobody I know has access to large sums of money at the drop of a hat. I'd just be toast.

5. What do you think is the greatest invention of your lifetime and why?

It certainly isn't Facebook, that's for sure. I'd be happy if that fell off of the planet and ceased to exist. I think that I would choose digital photography. Though I prefer the old ways and had a lot of fun watching my husband develop pictures in the darkroom, digital photography gives instant feedback to those of us lacking in patience. I can tell before I spend a zillion dollars to develop a roll of film whether the picture is worth printing or not. No wasted film, no wasted paper. Unfortunately, no physical darkroom either.

  1. Digital photography is a really cool invention. I've been shooting pics since our kiddos entered our lives, but I consider myself a mere novice at it. I get a lot of bad photos still. I'm SO happy for this new technology because this keeps my expense down so much! Also, as you mentioned you get to see your images instantly. If you don't like it, then you can do it again, and again, and again.

I have not ever had the privilege of developing film. My husband got a little involved doing this when he started in the early 80s. He had a buddy friend work who was big into photography and quite good. He had his own darkroom, which I always thought was neat.

You know, I'm beginning to feel a whole lot like you regarding Facebook or any other social network site. It doesn't bring people closer or not at least the most important people in your lives, like husbands and children. They are the ones who may suffer the most because of all this connection. This week I haven't been on FB and am pleased to learn I haven't missed it all that bad.

Will I give FB up? Nah, I like checking for "real life" posts by old classmates. It was through FB I learned the illnesses and death of two dear friends'husbands last year. Having this info allowed me to pray on their behalf and offer encouragement. What people fail to do is keep this all in moderation. It's kinda like obesity, if you eat in moderation then our society wouldn't have this problem.

  2. Hi Cathy,

I get lots of bad photos, too, but it is still fun. The last pics that I took were of the water spraying the windshield at the car wash. I'm easily amused. haha

I think it would be so much fun to have our own darkroom. Left on my own, I would probably blow something up, but thankfully David knows how to do black and white developing.

I used to be on FB fairly regularly, but not anymore. I can't recall the last time I signed in to FB. My blogs post there through a program that I can't remember the name of at the moment, so I don't see any need to bother with it.

I'm glad that you were able to get the news about your friends so that you could pray for them and comfort them. It does have its good points in that regard. I like your analogy about obesity and moderation. Very good point!

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with me. I hope that you have a great week!
