Saturday Nine

Here are the Saturday 9 questions for this week. Click the button above to join in the fun!

1. Has anyone ever intentionally ripped you off? Or perhaps unintentionally?

Yes, most definitely, especially if you consider that there are many ways to rip someone off and not all of them involve money. There are time stealers, affection thieves, burglars of the heart, and all sorts of bandits out there.

2. When was the last time that you made a quip that fell completely flat and embarrassed you?

This happens to me ALL the time. I'll think something is so totally funny, and it is...in my head. Once it leaves my lips, though, well, I'm the only one that gets the joke. :)

3. When you go to sleep, does it need to be absolutely quiet or do you need a little noise (radio, TV, music or white)?

I can't sleep with a radio or television going. I need it to be relatively quiet, except for the hum of the fan. This room is far from being quiet, even if the TV is off. It is full of its own noises. I never realized how loud a house itself could be until we moved into this one.

4. Do you have a memorable "ripped clothing" moment in your life? No? How about in someone else's? (Come on, you know you have something to contribute!)

On two separate occasions, quite a few years apart, I've had zippers in my skirts break. One was on a school bus when I was a freshman and the bus driver was a senior boy. I swapped out my skirt for my gym shorts in the back seat of the bus. Nobody could see anything as I slipped the shorts up, then removed the skirt. The second time was after I was married. David and I were at the movie theater and I was wearing a black leather mini-skirt, dressed not at all like a woman my age and status should have been and the zipper popped. Naturally, folks from our church were in line with us. How embarrassing...the zipper and the leather mini. haha

5. What's changed on your blog since its inception? ...a redo? ...a change of pace? ...or is it still business as usual?

Mostly all that has changed on my various blogs is the arrangement of the gadgets and the widths of sidebars. I'm still searching for that happy medium. I am too chicken to change the templates to something new, but I really do want a new look for my Random Thoughts by Suzanne blog.

6. Can you remember where you were in life ten years ago? If you could travel back in time and whisper something to yourself ten years ago, what would it be?

Ten years ago today I was in intense grief and writhing in guilt because I should have spoken up but didn't. What I would want to whisper to myself back then I would want to whisper to myself eleven and a half years ago instead. That might have changed what happened and I wouldn't have been feeling so sad ten years ago and my friends would still have their precious baby girl.

7. Okay, let's have it! What's the craziest, most impulsive thing you've ever done?

I honestly cannot think of anything for this one. I am not an impulsive person. I generally analyze everything to death and that pretty much rules out impulsiveness.

8. If you were having a bad day what or who would you turn to for comfort?

Sometimes my husband is who I turn to. My children are always good for a hug when I need one. Sometimes, I turn to friends. Other times, I turn to a book or web searches to get whatever is bothering me out of my mind.

9. According to the song White Rabbit, "one pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small". If you were offered these pills today, which pill would you take and where would it take you?

I probably wouldn't take either, but if I did, it would be the one that made me smaller, if it is in reference to weight. But, if it is in reference to physical stature/height, I'd go for the "make me larger" pill. I would want to be large enough to scare all those that have bullied and intimidated me over the years. I would want to be big enough to not be scared.
