Writing Places

I love to write, although the words don't always come easy for me. My favorite way to compose is with a pen and paper. The computer slows down the composition. I get most of my writing ideas when there isn't a pen or paper anywhere in sight. Over the years, there have been several places where I like to write, for a multitude of reasons.

I like to write in cemeteries, but rarely do that anymore. They have, for the most part, always been peaceful places to me. They are loaded with history and with stories. The information on the stones can be prompts on their own. It isn't safe to go to them on my own anymore.

I like to write in my car. Sometimes while I'm in parking lots, I have the window open and listen to the people as they walk by. They are lost in their own worlds, their own time, and don't realize (or don't care) that someone can hear them and is listening. I haven't done this in a while, but somewhere around here I have a notebook with things that I've heard from passers-by in the Walmart parking lot. Some of the things I've heard are real doozies.

There are other places where I like to write, but those are the two that stand out to me right now.

Where do you like to write? Where are you most likely to be hit with *the* perfect blog post/article/story idea? Please share!

  1. There are times that I searching the car for pen and paper to jot something down...times that I wake up in the middle of the night with the urge to write. The hardest for me are the things I can't write about. Too many people know where to find my stuff online....and I can't be as honest or open as I should. Redirection sometimes is profound.

I understand completely about not being able to be totally open online. You never know how it is going to be received and who wants to be ripped apart for sharing their personal feelings? Some people just don't understand and think, just because it is online, that it is OK to rip it -the writing or the writer- apart.

Don't you just hate it when you get it by something that feels just so right and you can't find a pen, or the one you find isn't working? That drives me mad. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it very much! Have a great night.
