Closed Doors

My Sis, Lisa Easterling, shared this prompt with me years ago:

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. (Helen Keller) What closed door do you keep staring at?"

The closed door that I keep staring at is the door of trust. There is so much anger on both sides, so much hurt, that it might never open again. The hurt and anger are causing more hurt and anger, assumptions, and judging... a lack of second chances from both directions.

Longing for that closed door to be opened once again may be preventing me from seeing a door to happiness. But, if that door to happiness doesn't include the person on the other side of this door of trust, then I don't need - or want - a new door to open. It wouldn't be right to walk through it to anybody else, nor do I want to.
