On the Edge

Please visit this site to find all sorts of writing challenges:
Brennie's Dreamscape

The challenge for this one was to write a Japanese Tanka (5-7-5-7-7 syllable format). It was to include the words: edge, restless, and soul. Please visit Brennie's Dreamscape Winter Whispers for further details about Tanka.

On the edge of night,
I am restless as my soul
Longs to hold you close
To taste your gentle kisses
Falling free upon my lips.

  1. That is such a simple poem, but great word choices that the sentiment is dripping from it. I can taste the longing!

Thank you, Miel. I am glad that the feeling came through. :)

While I've written Haiku before, I've never tried a Tanka before. Actually, I had never even heard of this form until I found that writing challenge site.

Thanks so much for your comments. I hope that you have a great evening!

  3. Thank you, Miel! I appreciate that very much. I am glad that you could feel it from this little poem. Sometimes the little ones are harder to do than the longer forms of poetry, but this one came fairly easy for me. Thanks again!
