Day Thirty-Three: Slowing Down

“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.” Psalm 32:7 (KJV)

One of the themes running the course of this book is slowing down, stopping to ponder, to be thankful in order to gain time. It can be a difficult concept to grasp that we can do more by slowing down. At first glance, it just seems totally illogical. But, if you really look closely, it makes perfect sense. It is a matter of priorities. When we slow down and really look, we are more likely to see what is truly important to us and what is not. When we live our lives in a constant rush, devoting time to things that do not matter in the end, and don’t take the time to be thankful, so much passes by unnoticed. The important things get lost in the shuffle.

In the verse that opened this post, there is a great deal being said in those few words.

• He is One that we can go to
• He will protect us
• He will deliver us

In other words, He is there for us and will comfort us in our time of need, in times of trouble, just as He is there for us when times are good.

At the end, with the word “Selah,” we are instructed to “pause and think of that”. (Amplified Bible)

Slow down to fill up.

What causes you to slow down to say “thank you”? What are you filled with when you do?

33. I am thankful for the peace that slowing down is bringing to my heart and mind. I am thankful for a change in perspective. I am thankful for having room to grow, to learn who I am in Him, with Him. I am thankful for a second chance at a better way of living, a more full way of living.
