A Breach of Trust: Your Life Belongs to Them Now by Susan Hodges, LNFA

We have recently spent time in a nursing home. This is David’s second time in one in the last five years. Suzanne goes with him.

We have all heard horror stories of terrible care inside nursing homes and skilled nursing centers. A Breach of Trust goes even further.

In the State of Texas, a person of any age can be declared incompetent by a probate judge on the say so of any doctor, competent or not. It gets worse. Once that person is declared incompetent, the court decides what happens to that person’s assets. Most of time, they are eaten up by “legal fees.’

A Breach of Trust is eye-opening. Anyone who lives in Texas should read this book, then reach out to their elected officials and stop the madness.

What happens in a prison is bad. What happens in a nursing home is even worse. But to make things unbearable, the court often forces competent people into nursing homes against their will and then rapes them financially.

We give A Breach of Trust all five stars. This book is very well-written and hard to put down. We won’t go so far as to call it entertaining. What it is is downright horrifying.

Unknown Future

Corrie Ten Boom said that. She was one tough cookie. She endured so much, lost so much, but through it all, she did not lose her trust in Heavenly Father. If someone enduring the concentration camps and the Holocaust, the loss of family, and further torture can remain strong and trusting, who am I to not?

No matter what I am presently going through, no matter what I have endured that got me to this point of not trusting, there is always someone else that has gone through so much more, fought through it, and triumphed in the end. No matter what my future holds, I know that He has it covered. He has it under control even when I do not.

Psalm 56:3

Throughout the year, I plan to post Bible verses and quotes dealing with My One Word for this year, which is Trust.

Fear is something that I have battled for a long time now. Because of fear, I do not trust anyone as much as maybe I should. Unfortunately, fear has begun affecting my trust in Heavenly Father. I will overcome this, whatever it takes. I will not live the rest of my life afraid and lacking in trust of the One Who showed me that I have value by sending His son to die for my sins. I can trust His love for me, even if I cannot trust anyone else.

With Him, I need not be afraid.

My One Word 2016

Are you tired of resolutions, especially those that you give up on less than a month after making them? How about concentrating on just one word?

I have a life-long history of trust issues. I was taught in a variety of ways not to trust people throughout my childhood. Lately, that struggle to trust has been affecting my relationship with Heavenly Father as well. So, my one word for 2016 is:

First, I am going to work on getting back to fully trusting Heavenly Father. I have no doubt that He gave His son for my salvation. I have no doubt that He can do all things. Like I always say, I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds tomorrow. What I don't know is what hurt will be allowed to get through to me or what I will be protected from. This fear of the unknown is not helping with trust issues. I want to let go of the fear, knowing that no matter what harm may reach me, I will be okay in the end, wherever that end is.

Second, I want to learn to develop trust in people. This will probably be the tougher of the two. Regardless of what Heavenly Father has planned for me, humans have their own agendas and sometimes people are hurt deeply by the actions of others. Lack of trust is also hurtful. If I can't get to the point of trusting people, I want to at least get to the point of living the thought, "I don't have to trust people; I only have to trust Him." But, I would really like to be able to trust people, too, especially those that are a part of my every day life, a part of my family.
