The month of February has been pretty much a blur and I am glad that it is almost over. It has been an unforgettable month, that’s for sure! There is so much that I could say…parts of the month would have been easier if other people weren’t involved. The alleged reprieve was anything but helpful. In fact, I came very close to slapping someone and I am not an aggressive person (in most circumstances). Thankfully, I had some semblance of self-control, which is very hard to have when someone is calling me stupid and ugly.
Parts of it were a blast. Some parts quite literally. About 7:30am on Valentine’s Day, we had a tornado in this little town and several surrounding towns. I said “a” tornado, but 6 have been confirmed. The tornado didn’t damage our house, thank goodness. It did knock down our mailbox and took our trash can to somewhere in Kansas. It must have missed us, though, because it is back out there now. Maybe it was another
boomerang trash can. 🙂
Other homes in town were not so lucky. Some received significant damage. Trees also were shot from one side of the highway to the other, banging up cars and lifting them in the process. It was totally terrifying for those in the middle of it. David and I slept through it. I heard the sirens go off and the photographer part of me wanted to go out and try to get a twister picture (it is on my bucket list). But, I laid there until the feeling passed. We rode out Hurricane Ike the same way: asleep.
There is a lot of work out there for the folks that deal with tree removal and yard cleanup. This is one of the trees down at the local college and one of our buddies working on the cleanup.
AND, the bluebonnets are here way, way early! I found this baby a full two weeks earlier than last year’s first bluebonnet. I’m a happy camper. 🙂
AND, we’re going to have a new daughter-in-law by the end of the week.
All that to say, we’re back now and hope to get to our regular posting in short order, starting with Share Your World tomorrow.
It is good to be home again!
Have a blessed night.
