Friendly Fill-Ins

Here are the fill-ins:

1. I have never been able to _____________________.

2. I wish I could still ___________________.

3. ____ is my ideal winter night.

4. ________ and _______.

Here are my responses:

I have never been able, as my mother put it, to “carry a tune in a tin bucket”. My question is, “Who could?!” I have always wanted to sing, but because of discouraging comments such as that, I generally do not sing where others can hear me. Sometimes the music takes over and it happens, but I don’t belt it out.

I wish I could still have the body of my 17-year old self and the energy to go with it.

My ideal winter night would include David by my side along with snow, a huge full moon, marshmallows on sticks, a fire, and hot chocolate. Diabetic comas not welcome!

Peanut butter and jelly
Ping and Pong
Elvis and Priscilla
Captain and Tenille
Sonny and Cher
Jan and Dean
George and Gracie
Lucy and Ricky
Loretta and Conway
Dolly and Kenny

And...David and Suzanne!

Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

  2. Thank you for these great answers to the fill-ins. I know how you feel about carrying a tune, I was asked to mouth the words in the college choir. I like all the answers for #4. XO

    1. Thanks, Ellen. How very rude of them to ask you to mouth the words instead of singing them. :(

      Have a blessed week!

  3. I like that very last entry. It is a shame so many have told you you can't sing. When you forget and do sing, you sound wonderful. I love you, my Zing!

    1. In Heaven, we'll have such beautiful voices. What a wonderful time that will be, singing and knowing that it is a beautiful, joyful noise unto the Lord. :)

Have a blessed week, Mimi. :)

  5. Many of us were taught to be self-conscious about our voices, but I think God loves to hear us sing our hearts out, even if we do it when we are alone!

Your idea of a cozy winter night sounds wonderful.

I love the "and" list you provided for #4, that was clever and you finished it up perfectly! <3

    1. Thank you, Josie.

I agree with you about #1. He said a joyful one, not one word about it having to be beautiful. :)

I'm glad that you like my winter night idea. I made myself crave marshmallows. haha

The very first thing to pop into my mind when I saw #4 was peanut butter and jelly. :)

      Have a blessed week!

  6. Please tell David that his blog will not recognize either my Blogger or WordPress identity to allow me to leave a comment for him. I was having this problem with his blog before too, no idea why. Blogger is being a real pain about commenting. I finally had to move my blog to WordPress because so many people couldn't comment on it anymore.

    1. I have no idea what could be going on. We will take a look at the settings when we get out of the nursing home. Maybe we need to change a setting some kind of way. Thanks for letting us know.

  7. These really made me smile, Suzanne. I was always in Choir, but I just sing for my cats, now. They love it when I sing about them. I sing Clyde (written by JJ Cale, and sung by Waylon, too). Clyde loves it and knows it is "his" song, now. (I have always loved that song!) I make up songs for the others, too.

Marshmallows with snow? That is a Yooper thing! I'm in! I thought about that "and" option, too. I had Waylon and Willie and The Boys...Simon and Garfunkel...Crosby, Stills,Nash, and Young...leather and lace...North and South...country and western...moon and stars...this is fun!

I am at WordPress, now. Blogger was just too difficult. Please keep in touch. You are both in my prayers. Hugs.

    1. I'm glad to make you smile, Annie. I think it is sweet that you sing to the kitties.

      What is a "Yooper"?

      Have a blessed week!
