Here are the fill-ins:

1. I can’t believe _____________________ is still sold.
2. I have ______________________________ on Craigslist.
3. Going into December, the weather outside is _______.
4. My current weakness is ____________________________.

Here are my responses:

I can’t believe Easter grass is still sold. Really, I didn’t have a good answer for this one, so this is as good as any. Easter grass was banned from our house many, many years ago. Once it gets in, you can never get rid of it, much like Christmas tree tinsel and glitter. It gets everywhere and it stays everywhere. If you throw it away, it finds its way back!

I have never made any transactions on Craigslist. I have looked at things that are offered there, from the safety of my computer, but have never pursued a transaction through them. I have, however, made several transactions through our local FreeCycle groups.

Going into December, the weather outside is just wonderful! It is cooler than usual for this time of year in this part of Texas and it is great. The mosquitoes still haven’t figured out that they are supposed to be gone by now, but otherwise, it is great being able to be outside without totally melting.

My current weakness is...everything. Anemia has a good hold on me, so I am terminally weak. Going from being someone known as “Hercules” to a weakling is no fun at all.

Another weakness is anything sweet. I have been on a sugar rampage lately, getting rid of the good stuff around here as we get ready to start a “no junk food” kind of lifestyle that we’ve been playing at for long enough. It is beyond time to be serious about what we’re putting into our bodies.

Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

  1. Easter grass. Yes, I recall the Easter of 1987 I said we would never allow it in our house again. We have moved many times over the years and yet, we still find Easter grass hiding in the house. We will get this junk food thing licked. I love you, my Zing!

    1. Whether we disallowed it or not, it gets in here anyway. I can only imagine what is lurking in those unpacked boxes in the garage. haha

I love you, too, my Zing. :)

  2. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I don't like Easter grass or the tinsel for the tree- both are incredibly dangerous to pets and kids too. Do you know the cause of your anemia? Sometimes it is an easy supplement fix like I had it from lack of folic acid so now I have a prescription for that. I hope you have a good weekend! XO

    1. Thank you, Ellen. I enjoy the fill-ins very much. Yes, those things can be very dangerous. Laynie found an article recently where scientists are even trying to get glitter banned. Have you heard anything about that? It can be dangerous, too, but I can't imagine glitter being illegal. :)

Yes, I know one of the causes of my anemia. My blood cells are not shaped properly and do not absorb iron the way they should. But the primary cause at this point is internal bleeding caused by the mesh put in after my hysterectomy back in 2010. Since I can't have corrective surgery (and it would possibly make my situation worse anyway), I will be battling anemia for the rest of my life, even with iron supplements.

I am glad that you were able to get a prescription to help you with your anemia. I bet you feel so much better. I don't like being tired and weak all the time. I get bursts of "I'm going to do this anyway and hopefully not fall down" and when those times happen, I get a few things done. But, I'm beat afterwards and out of breath.

  3. I've never experienced Easter grass as it's not something we ever had in the house. I've managed to cut my sugar in my coffee down slowly over the last two years, but still clinging to one teaspoon - good luck with your healthy eating.
It's difficult when you have chronic anemia, make sure you're eating lots of slow release energy foods and lots of protein - it won't fix the problem but it may give you a little bit more energy.
    Have a great day.

    1. I think that you're very lucky to have escaped experiencing Easter grass. haha

Thank you for the healthy eating wishes. Best wishes to you, too. I don't drink coffee, so I don't have the sugar problem there, but I am hopelessly addicted to Diet Coke. I kicked regular Coke years ago, the summer I almost died (2010), but I guess Diet Coke is here to stay, especially after I heard it can help treat my asthma (which is otherwise untreated).

Do you have any suggestions for slow release foods to combat the anemia? I'd love to hear about them. Thank you for any suggestions you have to offer.
