Here are the fill-ins:

1. Blind dates ____________________________.
2. _______________years ago, I ____________.
3. I admire ___________ because ___________.
4._____________makes me think _____________.

Here are my responses:

Blind dates may be exciting, but they are too risky.

Forty-six years ago, I started first grade and it warped me for life!  You can read more about that first day of school here.

I admire David because he did not slink back into a corner after his strokes. He came out fighting. I admire our daddies because, though they had their moments, they did what was necessary to take care of their families.  I admire my grandma and granny because they were able to love in spite of all the hurt they had suffered at the hands of people that allegedly loved them.

Talk about South Carolina makes me think about how much I want to go home, if only for a visit.

Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

  1. You are a strong woman, too. A trip back to South Carolina would be great. Maybe we could go to Stella Maris while we are there. I love you my Zing.

    1. Thank you. I don't feel so strong these days. I think it would be great to go to "Stella Maris". :)

  2. Times have sure changed in classrooms, haven't they? My daughter managed well through kindergarten last year, but she cried many a day when her dad dropped her off (and it wasn't her first experience away from us, not even close). We'll see how she does with first grade this year.

Sounds like you've always been surrounded by great people. :-)

I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Yes, times sure have changed. Spanking/paddling/hitting kids was the norm when I was a kid. When my grandma was in school, they could flat out beat them. I'm sorry that your little girl had so many tearful days in kindergarten. I hope that first grade will go well for her and that she'll have a great, caring teacher to help her through it. Thankfully, that mean teacher I had did not stop me from wanting to learn. :)

Yes, I was blessed to have many great folks in my life growing up. They were fallible humans, as am I, some with terrific faults, but I knew they loved me and that is what mattered.

      Have a blessed week!
