Book Review: Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the Fight for Europe By Robert Matzen

Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the Fight for Europe
By Robert Matzen

Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the Fight for Europe gives readers a side of Jimmy Stewart that most of us did not know.

This book gives readers a little taste of what Stewart was like as a child and gives us a few details of Jimmy the young man as he moved his way up in the entertainment industry.

However, this book gives readers a look at the horrors of war.  We learn a little more about PTSD, which was referred to as shell-shock or being flak happy years ago.

This book is an important read not just because it is about one of our favorite actors, Jimmy Stewart, but also because it gives us a little more behind the scenes of World War II.

Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the Fight for Europe is very well-written and entertaining.  The book contains pictures of Stewart pre-war, during the war, and post-war.  The book is very well-researched and also exciting.

We originally knocked the book down to zero stars because of the use of the Lord’s name in vain four times. Our review policy states that the use of God’s name in vain even once will knock a book down all the way to zero stars.

However, since this book gives us a good look at an important part of history, and because it is so well-written we think it redeems itself back up to three stars. There are no explicit sex scenes, although it does talk about Stewart as being a promiscuous young man before the war.

We were sent a complimentary Advance Reading copy of Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the Fight for Europe.  We are under no obligation to write any review, positive or negative.

  1. We are big Jimmy Stewart fans, so we made have to get around to reading this. Why do people feel the need to use the Lord's name like that?!

    1. I don't know. I hate hearing it and seeing it in things I am trying to read. It goes on and on in my head afterwards and I do not want it in there at all.

      Have a blessed weekend. :)
