Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What color is prominent in your home? Are you glad about that or wishing you could cover it up or remove it?

The paint in all of the rooms here, except the dining room and kitchen (which are wood panels) is an off-white/beigey color with a hint of pink. I love pink, but, yes, I would love to change this paint color!

2. What's something you'll NEVER do again?

Image from Pixabay.

I will never get married again if I am widowed.   I’m too old to train or be trained by a new husband. Besides, if David is my one and only, how could I possibly love another man?  Other folks have to do what they are led to do, but for me, this is it.

3. Tell us a couple of ways you fit the stereotypes associated with your gender, and a couple of ways you don't.

The ways that I fit: I need to be loved, wanted, and needed. I need to be important enough to be listened to. I like to cook. I don’t like to be sticky.

The ways that I don’t: I do not wear makeup or perfume. I do not like to go shopping. I do not like to talk on the phone for hours on end. I like snakes and frogs.

4. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. Have you ever owned a motorcycle? Ever ridden a motorcycle? If the opportunity presented itself would you hop on a motorcycle and go for a ride?

I have never owned a motorcycle, but my daddy did. He used to take me for rides on it and it was simultaneously exhilarating and terrifying! I probably would not get on one again because, at this point in my life, I am too spent for that kind of excitement.

5. If someone wanted to understand you, what should they read, watch, and listen to?

I don’t know about reading and watching, but if they want to understand *me* they need to listen to *me*.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

  2. I don't like to shop either! I only go when I absolutely have too! Grocery shopping is every two weeks but clothes shopping is maybe two/three times a year and that is really only because of the kids! We will pick up necessary items when the need arrives but we don't run to the mall regularly.

    1. As much as I dislike shopping, I dislike mall shopping even more. The last time we went to one, all I wanted was out. :) Funny thing is, when I was a young woman, I loved to go shopping. I could have stayed in a mall all day long and been very happy. It is funny how things change, isn't it?

We put off grocery shopping as long as we possibly can, like just before we start thinking about cannibalism...just kidding. But, we do put it off as long as we can.

    1. Thank you, Mary. That is sweet of you to say. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the picture. It misses the mark on so many levels, but I love it, too. That bird was so beautiful. It made me very happy to get to take its picture.

  4. I love the picture! We have quite a few woodpeckers in our yard, and I had no idea there was so much variety. We put up a bluebird house recently, and the bluebirds have found it and declared it home. So much fun to watch!

    1. Thanks, Joyce. It is one of my favorite photos from this week so far. :) How cool that you have bluebirds now living in your bluebird house! That is great. Now, I'm going to have to go back to your blog and see if you've posted any pictures of this. I sure hope you have!

      Have a blessed day. :)

    1. Thank you. I think that it would be just too hard to do again. How does one face losing a spouse for a second time? My mother-in-law has buried two husbands so far. She was married to my father-in-law for almost 31 years and to her second husband just over 27 years. I just can't see having any sort of sanity after it happening the first time and then to put myself through it again? No, not for me.

I hope that you have a blessed Memorial Day weekend, too. Thank you.
