Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:
1. The highlight of my Christmas was ___________________________.
2. My New Year's resolution is __________________________.
3. This year, 2016, ______________.
4. Next year, 2017, ______________.

Here are my responses:
The highlight of my Christmas was having the girls home, getting to Skype with Davey, and having David make it to the 7-month stroke-a-versary without another event.
My New Year’s resolution is to do my best to no longer put off things that I want to do for “someday”. My vision clock is ticking and there are some pictures that I really, really want to take before I can’t.
This year, 2016, has been a very hard year.  Davey didn’t get to come home. David had 3 strokes within 2.5 days. Our daughters had some struggles. And I got cheated out of something that was due me and a diagnosis of cataracts. I am glad that 2016 is leaving! I couldn’t take another month of it.
Next year, 2017, promises to hold some changes in our lives.  I hope that it includes a visit with our Marine.  I sure hope he will get to come home. He is so good at what he does for the Marine Corps, his upline wants to keep him there in Japan. I hope that it also includes a lot of picture-taking opportunities for me.

  2. I agree: 2016 was a very rough year. But, God does not give you more than you can handle, Suz. You know that, too. Mother Teresa even knew it when she said sometimes she just wished God didn't trust her so much. We take what we have to, in order to survive. Because that is what God wants us to do: learn, survive, become stronger, in his name, to give Him the glory for our survival. You did survive 2016. David did survive it, too. And may 2017 bring answers for your eyes. Keep working on it, because that can be done. The miracle is out there. You just need to find the way. You have to believe, Suz. Trust me, I understand. Peace...and love.

    1. Thanks, Annie. He doesn't give me more than I can handle with His help. Yes, I know that, but I've gotten lost along the way of all the hard stuff and it feels like my prayers are hitting a brick wall most of the time.
Yes, we survived it, as did you and Bill. Somehow, no matter what tough stuff is thrown our ways, we survive it...battered and bruised, maybe, but alive.
I don't doubt a word that the Bible says. I know it to be the infallible word of the Father. I am just having trouble applying some of it to myself right now. It will pass.

  3. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins . I am praying that 2017 is much better for you than 2016 and that you can get that surgery.

    1. Thanks, Ellen. I am happy that you and Annie share them with us all each week. Thank you also for the prayers about my eyes and the surgery. It will happen if it is meant to. Either way, I will adapt to whatever comes my way. Maybe it will be hard. Maybe I'll be a total hornet before its all over with, but I will get to a point of acceptance if the surgery never happens.

I hope that 2017 is an even better year for you, too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed day!

  5. My dad had four small strokes in less than two years. He's had both carotid arteries cleaned out with the hope that's what was causing them. Incredibly scary.

    1. I am so sorry to hear about your daddy having strokes, too, Melissa. Yes, that is very scary. Has he recovered okay from them? I sure hope.

May 2017 be a much healthier year for your daddy and a wonderful year for all of you!
