David goes next Monday to have this cast removed and to be molded for a CROW boot. The next morning, he will be re-casted. Once the CROW boot has finished being created, he will be wearing that instead of a cast. It was explained to us that this boot is like a removable cast. It will give him the support that he needs while walking and take the pressure off the affected part of his foot while he walks, but he can take it off when he's sitting around relaxing. He will still be limited in the amount of walking that he can do. If he overdoes it, we'll be back in the same boat.
Keeping him out of that boat is where you all can help me. Please pray that he will not overdo it and that it does not ever open up again. That's a pretty tall order with a brittle diabetic, especially one that has been an insulin-dependent diabetic for 40 years now.
Thank you and join me in thanking Heavenly Father for His healing and blessings on my husband and our family!
