Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:

1. My favorite store is _____________________.
2. An unanswered prayer I am thankful for is _______________________.
3. At Halloween, I ___________________.
4. I ___________the supernatural, because ________________________ .

Here are my responses:

My favorite store is Barnes and Noble…AND Hobby Lobby. I can't choose between them. Both are #1 in their line of business.

An unanswered prayer I am thankful for is that I didn't have to have a c-section when Maggie was born. I was so distraught when I delivered David and fought so hard NOT to deliver him (long story) that I had horrendous tearing. I prayed the whole time I was pregnant with Maggie that I would have a c-section. I just did not want to go through all those stitches again. But, Heavenly Father knew best, as always, as she was born the regular way and I had not even one stitch after her delivery!

At Halloween, I don't do anything really. We trick-or-treat with the kids here inside the house sometimes, but we gave up on trying to give candy to neighborhood kids years ago. Our first Halloween as a married couple, we sat on the porch, David in his Western Auto uniform so that they would recognize us, with TONS of candy, and not one single person came to our house. That kind of took the wind out of our sails.

Before I answer the next question, I want to state that I believe that Heavenly Father is in control of everything. I am a Christian and my safety is in Him and Him alone.  He is more powerful than any other entity that exists. Maybe I am operating off of a different definition of "supernatural" than is intended in this question

I believe in the supernatural, because the Bible tells me it is so and because I have felt it. The Bible tells me there are ghosts when it says not to call up the dead and when it says that He will send a Comforter, the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost (John 16:7, Acts 1:2). If there were no other spirits, there would be no need to specify the Holiness of this One. If there were no spirits to call up from the dead and if it were not possible, He would not have told us not to do it.  There are demons mentioned throughout the Bible. Verse references regarding consulting spirits: Deut 18:9-13, 2 Kings 21:6, Lev 19:31, Lev 20:6, 1 Tim 4:1.

  1. Great post. We just seem to have differed on our definition of the supernatural. I was going with psychic phenomenon, etc.

    1. I understand. We often take things from different directions. Its an adventure. :)

  2. It's sad to prepare for Halloween and not have any kids show up. In our neighborhood, it's a mixed bag, some years we have plenty, and sometimes very few.

My definition of supernatural or spiritual is like yours, our Heavenly Father in in control!

    1. We are very blessed that He is in control. On our own, we'd sure make a big mess of it, I am sure.

We have gotten used to the kids not showing up. We just quit trying. Well, at least it is cheaper that way. :)

  3. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Those are 2 of my favorite stores too, I just prefer Michael's items a little more plus they take competitor coupons and Hobby Lobby does not. I agree with your #4. And I am glad you didn't need a c-section. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you, Ellen and Annie, for hosting the fill-ins. I enjoy them very much.

I like Michael's, too, as well as Jo Ann. I liked 96 Fabrics when we were back home, too, but I believe they went out of business. They were more of a fabric store than an all around craft store. They had great fabric and helpful employees, too. What is your absolute favorite craft?

  4. Barnes and Noble is a wonderful book store, they have everything! I spend too much if I go there! :-)

I loved your unanswered prayer. Sometimes what we most desire turns out to be all wrong for us and we are blessed when God overrules our requests to give us even better than what we prayed for!

I have had Halloweens like that and so has my daughter, it is sad when no one comes. But I have had some awesome ones too, with many visitors. No one comes out in the country where we live. If I bought candy, we would eat it all in quick order. :-)

I agree with you that God created what we call "supernatural". I have lived with the darkness in my life and I know well how dangerous it can be to play with things we do not understand, Ouija boards among them. I would never allow one in my house!

    1. We don't go often, but I think both David and I could easily carry out the whole store if our wallet would allow it. :) What is your favorite kind of book to read?

Thank you. He answered that childbirth prayer way better than I could have imagined. His hand was all over it that morning. I had to drive myself because of David's vision. I drove across town at 7cm dilation, in fully active labor. He kept us from driving into anything we shouldn't have. I didn't give birth on the side of the road (which would have been an adventure, but too scary in the area where we were driving). I was at the hospital barely an hour before she was born. She would have arrived much sooner, but when they offered drugs, I took them, remembering the struggle with Davey's delivery. The drugs slowed it down and she was born asleep from the drugs, which was a distressful, but she was fine. AND, no cutting and no stitches, which was great. :)

We buy the Halloween candy now with our own taste buds in mind and don't even bother waiting for this trick-or-treaters anymore. I wish that we could live way out in the country like you! You are so blessed, in many ways.

I would never allow one of those boards in our house, either. Thankfully, no one in my household wants anything to do with them! When I was a little girl, maybe about 12 or 13, I'd heard about seances. I guess I saw it on TV. After we got home from church, we used a flashlight (we couldn't mess with the matches and lighters). We got in the circle like they did on whatever it was that I had seen. Just as we all joined hands, there was a huge boom of thunder and strike of lightning. We packed it up right then, knowing that was Heavenly Father telling us to stop, to not go any further with that evil thing. At this point in my life, I wouldn't even think of attempting it. I got a God-said on that one and I'm sure listening to it!

  5. I really love and appreciate the way you answered #4. Why didn't I think of that? I am also a Christian and believe in Jesus. Your #2 is a blessing. He really does always have what is best for us, always.

    1. Thank you. I think that #4 just struck some of us differently. I wasn't sure from what angle it was being asked. I just answered with what came to my mind at the time. Even among Christians, there are often vastly different answers to questions like this. It definitely makes for some interesting reading. :)

Thank you. Yes, I was very blessed with my last delivery. I was very glad to not have any stitches after having so many with our then future Marine. He is good, all the time, He is good.

  6. I haven't been to Barnes & Noble in a long time, but we only have one store left. I don't do anything for Halloween.

    1. The only Barnes and Noble in our town is the college bookstore. The closest real B&N is about 40 miles away, so we don't go too often, either.

  7. I agree with you on #4. I am very cautious about things of a dark nature. I do not open myself or my home to that stuff. I am fascinated with local legends and folklore from areas in America, but do not read or watch "horror". No thanks.
P.S. Your package was mailed today. Sorry I have been so sick; it sat on my desk. Hugs.

    1. How are you feeling now, Annie? I have been worried about you. I'm sorry that you've been so sick. {{{Hugs}}} Thank you. I will let you know when it arrives. You're very sweet to think of me. :)

We used to watch horror movies, but about as close as we get to that these days is Hotel Transylvania 2. It is a cute little animated movie, not at all scary. The baby in that movie is totally adorable.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a blessed night.
