The fill-ins are:

1. The first thing I check when I go online is __________________________.

2. My signature dish is ___________________________________________.

3. My Halloween night is usually ___________________________________.

4. Trick or treaters  ______________________________________________.

My responses are:

I usually check to see if I have had any blog comments.  Then, I sometimes check my e-mail, but it isn't getting nearly the attention it should be getting these days and is a total mess. The filters aren't filtering e-mails properly, which doesn't help matters either.

Ordinarily, I think 'signature dish' denotes a positive thing, but the only one that I can think of that screams "Suz" is the Herbed Livers Incident of 1984-ish.  Please be sure to watch his video. Believe me, it is all in the telling, not the reading. haha

My Halloween night is usually spent inside playing trick-or-treat with David and whatever kid happens to be here at the time.

Trick or treaters never come to our house.  I've learned to accept it. I know it’s a sacrifice, but someone has to eat all that candy. For the good of the family, I will do it. I will eat the candy.

Please be sure to visit David over at Random Thoughts and Observations.

    1. Cool. We could pretend they are a pile of leaves and just jump right in. :)

    1. Thanks. I am sure it was scary to David at the moment it happened, but now we get a real laugh out of it. :)

    1. Thank you! It brings us lots of laughter these day, too. :) Did you watch his video? Some of the parts are even funnier just because of the way he says it.

  4. I checked out the herbed livers post at David's. I don't think Mr BC would have been so diplomatic.

    1. Thank you! I'm sorry that you don't think Mr. BC wouldn't have been diplomatic about it. Maybe he would have been. Maybe you've never cooked anything as icky as herbed livers. :)

David was, thankfully, understanding of the fact that I was starting from Ground Zero in regards to learning how to cook. His mother taught me some of her dishes but, for the most part, I had to teach myself everything. Thankfully, he survived the learning process. haha

  5. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I just read the chicken liver incident, that is a good husband :) Funny the dog didn't want them either. We never get trick or treaters either, but I get candy just in case and I eat it too :) Have a nice weekend!

    1. You're welcome, Ellen. Thank you and Annie for hosting the fill-ins. :)

Yes, he was being a really good husband and he even lived through it. haha

What kind of candy do you load up on for Halloween?

  6. You are a real trouper for volunteering to eat the candy. That's dedication! ;-) I watched the herbed livers incident video, that had me laughing! David is quite a guy for doing his best to choke them down so you wouldn't feel bad. Papa Bear might try to do that too, but sooner or later he would have ended up laughing. Probably when I noticed his face turning green! :-)

    1. Thank you. I try. haha

Isn't it just hilarious the way he tells the story? I love the way he says, "They're different".

Papa Bear looks like he'd be a really good-humored type of person. I bet you've never turned his face green. You're both blessed to have each other. :)

    1. Do you live out in the country, or do you think just the children in your neighborhood have aged out of trick-or-treating? Sometimes I think we have a flashing neon sign on our houses warning them off or something. We gave up a long time ago even trying.

  8. Suzanne, I adore you. You are so real.

The first time I made squash was when we were newlyweds. I got a recipe out of a magazine, and followed the instructions. we sat down to eat and I was so proud of my new found recipe. I watched Bill eat the squash. The look on his face was one of shock and panic. Then he looked at me, swallowed, and then went on eating silently. I took a bite and was horrified...it was disgusting. I watched Bill, as he kept eating, silently. Finally, I said, "Stop! Don't eat that! It is gross!" He looked at me, and said, "no...it is not that bad. Really." I did not know whether to laugh or cry. I said, "You must really love me. But, I love you, too. So, don't eat that. It is really gross." It was, too.
    Enjoy that candy, my friend!
    Happy Halloween!

    1. Thank you, Annie. I feel the same way about you. You're so sweet. :)

Thank you for sharing your squash story with me. We must be two very blessed women to have husbands willing to endure our learning to cook phase. :) I read your comment to David and he started laughing when I got to the part about Bill's look of shock and panic. He remembers very well the "OH NO! What do I do? Do I eat this or do I tell her" moment. haha

What went wrong with the squash?

Happy Halloween! Have a blessed week, my friend. :)
