Frank J. and Mary Wenzel Blecha

Frank and Mary Blecha are David's 2nd great-grandparents through his maternal grandmother's mother.  They are the most recent immigrant ancestors in our family, arriving in the United States at some point between 1851 and 1873. Frank was born in Austria in 1851 and Mary in Austria in 1854.  They were married in Seneca, Kansas on 9 February 1873.  Mary died in 1929 and Frank in 1945. Both are buried in Kansas, but not in the same cemetery, no even the same county, which I find very sad. I think that they look like a very sweet couple.

    1. Thank you. I think it is sad, too. I don't know why they aren't buried together. This happened with one set of my paternal great-grandparents, too. My great-grandmother Annie, the one this blog is named after, is buried in South Carolina and her husband is buried in Georgia, just over the border. It would be nice if all couples could be buried together. One of my third great-grandpas is buried with his wife...actually, both of his wives, one on either side, so is one of David's great-grandpas. My third great-grandpa and his second wife and family dynamics after their marriage are worthy of a whole bottle of Tylenol - Extra Strength!

  2. Do you know why they left Austria? We toured Austria a few years ago and I can't imagine leaving that beautiful place except for drastic measures. They do look very sweet.

    1. Thank you. No, at this point I have no idea why they left Austria. I hope to find out some day. It is a beautiful place over there. I can't imagine leaving it either had I been born there.
