R is for Rozell, Roland "Rosie"

When Denver Crumpler unexpectedly passed away in early 1957, Cat Freeman came back to the group as the tenor. He stayed until sometime in 1958, when "Rosie" Rozell came to be the tenor. Rosie is the one in whom I've seen the most changes over the years. While he had a fine tenor voice at the beginning of his time with The Statesmen, his is one voice that got even better as he aged.

Here is an older Rosie singing his signature song, Oh What a Savior. I say older, but he was at most 45 years old at the time this was recorded. I don't know what year it was recorded, but Big Chief (bass) is still there, so it is before 3 October 1973.

Rosie sings it with such feeling and peace. Do you agree?
